World Book and Copyright Day is April 23rd,, but
Bards and Sages will be celebrating all month with special promotions, contests, and a chance to send your favorite librarian a bouquet of roses!
World Book and Copyright Day celebrates the importance of literature and the protection of author rights. Sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, World Book Day reminds us of the importance of the written word to society. World Book Day arose out of el dia del libre, or The Day of the Book, festival to St. George in Catalonia. During the festival, friends and loved ones exchange books and roses. Booksellers often give a gift of a rose to anyone who purchases a book.
