As a ten year old, I didn't have women that much in my mind (or at all?)
So, are you sure ten year olds have this fantasies? Or is not more that adolescents and adults have these fantasies?Posted 30th July 2008 at 02:24 PM by Mustrum_Ridcully

Eh, I've done it once. Depending on the campaign, I think it could be okay [and depending on the player and other players], but to do it repeatedly would be kinda bad.
Seriously though, my character idea was basically the high-priced prostitute whose secret life included gathering information and blackmail, so sex was frequently used as a weapon. Done like that, do you think it is still bad or is it a decent, but common enough, character idea?Posted 30th July 2008 at 03:36 PM by Dog Moon

To Mustrum Ridcully and other 10 year olds -- sorry, you are right. I picked a random age. If I think about it, the youngest player that I have ever seen do this was mid-teenager, though there is no upper age limit that I have seen this done. Some guys just have unresolved issues related to sex and gender.
To Dog Moon -- THAT (what you described) is okay to me, especially handy if the campaign is city/politically focused. But I'm talking about "the rest of the party is busy talking to nobles, the female PC didn't want to be bothered with the boring talk so goes to the bar. While at the bar, she prostitutes herself in order to get free drinks at the bar ...." or "The female PC wants some fancy shiny earrings, she flirts with everyone in town until she finds herself a sugar daddy .... she''ll exchange sex for fine clothes and jewelry gifts from him... "
And it is a frequent "character type" that the guys in question do (not just a one time "blowing off steam thing"). Nor is it one person I've ever seen do this... I've seen it time and time again from different people. It's so exceptionally juvenile and group-disruptive.Posted 30th July 2008 at 05:48 PM by fba827

What a coincidence. I have the same problem with male players who insist that their male PCs are mighty warriors and wizards who use violence to get what they want.Quote:I know this really depends on the player, but, geez, how many times do I have to run in to a male player who insists that his female character is a slut that uses sex to get what she wants?
These people just need to realize, when they are vicariously living out power fantasies through their PC avatars, that some fantasies are ok and some are off limits.

I play one such character, a drow warlord dominatrix who delights in ability to make people hit each other. In the first adventure I played with this character, a female gamer was getting annoyed until she suggested I be sacrificed as payment. I called her "catty" and told her the tales that drow can be sacrificed for power were "vicious rumors". What could have been upsetting was played for the kind of humor it should be.
On a deeper level, guys can't get drinks at a bar by flashing a little cleavage. As a guy, the possibility of doing something I can't in real life is the reason I role play. I will be disappointed if the nobles treat me with respect if I act like such a loose women. Such women exist in real life so you can't fault me so much for bringing such realism into the game. What upset me more are the Macho Women, female characters with male players who act male in all respects, making gender pointless.
Is it juvenile? Of course it is. Can it be funny and fun to play? Absolutely. All that said, it is also a commentary on the new RPGA Living Forgotten Realms campaign.Posted 27th August 2008 at 11:06 PM by LokiDR
