Insights into the Mind of the Wizard....
I'm curious about how each of you players sees his character, and how you see their development progressing. So far, Kerlan has expressed some interest in the crafting of magic items, but I have, perhaps, inadvertently squelched that somewhat. That was not my intention, but I don't really think that selling your crafted items to your own party members should be your primary focus. I mean, you know for a fact that they each have exactly as much money as you have. A much better strategy would be to combine your efforts and sell the resulting items, say potions of comprehend languages, as a totally random example, to the townsfolk of Pembrose. But I digress.... If you wish, please respond to this post and let me know what your character's dream spellbook would contain at, say 9th level, or, better yet, just tell me some of the spells that your character is dying to get his/her hands on. Or just tell me anything that he/she desires, and, if he/she has any specific uses in mind for any of it.
I already get that Francheska the Fire Elf probably REALLY likes fire spells. Hey, here's a question for you: Will Tylara and Francheska necessarily ALWAYS go to the bathroom at the same time? And does Francheska ever have a date that is NOT a HOT date? And does she smoke afterwards? Literally?

For all the whining I've seen online that Evokers are the weakest specialist wizards, Francheska is envisioned as a response to that view. She will focus on fire and force spells. I'm still wondering about specific upper level spells.
Tylara and Francheska will stick together when they NEED to. That may not be often. Francheska's dates are always hot when the date is over....Posted 30th April 2009 at 07:15 PM by Lou

Whining about weak evokers? I had no idea. As far as Fire/Force spells and higher level spells, I'm not really sure what you consider to be high level, but Force Orb is a good 4th or 5th level Force spell. That was the one that Gnurl took to fulfill his last requirement to be an Argent Savant. I'm just still having way too much fun with him as an illusionist to go ahead and make the switch, though. Force Missiles is also a good 4th/5th level one (think Magic Missile on steroids, in theory, but the 1st level version still seems to work better, at least as far as Gnurl's tastes are concerned), and Wall of Force is 5th, too. 5th level is about as high as I have direct experience with, so I don't really know about beyond that. (To me, though, that's high level!) As to Fire spells of similar level, I'm sure you've already thought of Wall of Fire (4th). Fire Shield is also 4th. Delayed Blast Fireball (7th) is always fun, too, and it's sure enough a high level spell, too! Summon Monster III or higher (3rd level plus) can conjure you up a small (or larger, depending on spell level chosen) elemental of the fire variety if you so desire, too.
Fire Seeds and Fire Storm are really cool, too, but they're both only cleric/druid spells so far. Maybe Fracheska needs to do some research?Posted 30th April 2009 at 07:28 PM by Leif

I want you to know that i have seen your question as to where i see cappi going, but i need to think on this for a bit. planning for cl 18 for lv 9 spells might be a bit aggressive for me to think on. . . but character level 10 might be a good goal for me to shoot at.
I will get back to you on this.

Where is Manny headed? Not a clue. He's my first real Wizard - heck, as far as I can remember he's my first real spell caster. And now he's a double class caster. I kind of want to capitalize on his Charisma, on making him a pint sized 'force to be reckoned with.' Right now it looks like his feats are - for the next couple at least - going to come from his Draconic heritage.
I don't have a 'dream spellbook' simply because I don't have time to pore over exhaustive lists of spells. Good Gods there are a lot of them out there! My feeble thoughts are to use his Sorcerer class to focus on combat oriented spells and his Wizard to do all the other cool stuff.
[That sounds like an excellent plan for Manny. But will his immediate advancement be as a sorcerer or as a wizard, do you think? - DM Leif]Posted 1st May 2009 at 10:39 PM by Mowgli

Think away, s. DeWar! Just post thoughts when you feel like it.
My previously stated ignorance of sorcerers has now obviously changed because of renau1g's (Xavier's) Fort Belurian game, and my Gnomiferous "Iffy" P. Quackenbush, Gnome Divine Sorcerer. :-)Posted 3rd May 2009 at 02:43 AM by Leif

If it wasn't obvious from my last blog post, I've backed away from wanting to have a party full of powerful wizards. That'd still be cool, of course, but some variety never hurts, either. Like I think Manny taking some levels as a sorcerer is super-cool. The idea of his draconic heritage brings strange images to my mind, though -- I mean, can you imagine a pseudo dragon getting it on with a brownie??? Yik!!Posted 6th May 2009 at 05:20 PM by Leif
