Looks interesting. I'm reminded of Feist's Kingdom, because both empires seem to include a number of different cultures - from the British and French to more 'exotic' cultures. Also, both empires seem to share a land border with another empire which seems to have a mix of Arabic and Asian cultures.

Thanks. I'll have to look into Feist.

I'd recommend Prince of the Blood - it deals directly with both the Kingdom and the Empire of Great Kesh. Most of the other books don't.

The nation of "Leeds" has been preying on my mind, because I cannot read it without thinking of the place in Britain. It seems bizarre to have such a British-seeming nation sitting next to "Jiwar" and "Umbala", neither of which sound like they have anything in common with Leeds.

(Having said that, an interesting campaign setting would be a patchwork of nations from different time periods - how would the Victorian English cope with, say, the Roman Empire or the Mongol Hordes?)

I can't really argue the disruption of cultural flow as we move around Othyr, but most especially involving Leeds. I suppose I imagined the place to have been sheltered from other civilizations by mountains and thick jungles, itself on a removed coast. I guess I could also chalk up Leeds odd placement to they being the first of a restored human kingdom after the Winters War, that is a war of godly proportions which I'll post up today. But you're right, I might have made a better-fitting nation, though I do like the idea of a British people neighboring a jungle people. Perhaps Leeds is even more Pictish.
