Arkham Horror, Round 2...Ow! Ow! Ow! MY SPLEEN!!

Boy oh boy, were we playing some of the phases and rules wrong.

This is the problem with playing the game with someone teaching you the rules without having a chance to really read the rules yourself.

You take what they are saying on faith.

And we were getting FUBAR'd by Ancient Ones left and right for it.

I have since re-read the rules, and those of us addicted to AH have played a round or two each in single player to make sure we caught all the little If/Then rules paragraphs in the back of the instructions.

We all feel much better about the game, and I made a phase cheatsheet so that in the future, the horrors from beyond space and time have the bone gnawing advantages they are supposed to, without us pouring gravy and giblets on ourselves first.

PS: In retribution, we slapped down Yig in a followup round. Hard.

The cheat sheet should now be attached.

War, do you mind posting your phase cheatsheet? I've had AH for a while but haven't yet convinced anyone to play it. They all want me to run my Arcana Evolved game!

    Thanks!

    There ya go.

I printed out a few of them double-sided (Front is the basic phase listings, back is the various monster & gate limits).

The most important thing of note from the rules, in my opinion, is that investigators can trade "tradeable" items (not clue tokens, for instance, but equipment cards, etc) during upkeep, or if during movement they are in the same location at any point together, and it costs nothing.

    Thanks, got it.

I noticed you don't mention trading in your movement section--I think I'll add that to my copy to make sure it's clear the first few turns we play. Again, if I can get my friends to try AH...

Yes, I only mention it in the upkeep section with a "during Upkeep OR Movement", since I was starting to have a hard time fitting all the important parts on one side of the pages at a happily readable font size.

So, that's enough for me and my friends to see it during our upkeep phase, so I just left it in once.
