| the creators were at Gencon wandering around in orange jump suits (though one did run for cover when the griffin vulture in the falconry diplay buzzed him) and i had a quick chat with them about the rules and the game in general. although tempted i was loaded up with PF beta's, dice and loads of other goodies so resisted.
the game looks nice, in that the rules seem simple but you can get a lot of different ways to win. the fact that each square starts with random amount of oil means no game is ever the same twice. the war on terror bit is basically you can fund terrorists to attack your enemies, though the terrorists then become free agents so you can end up being attacked back yourself
the map had some nice touches. i particularly like the zones of antartica - "Nowhere", "Next to nowhere" etc.
with hindsight i wish i'd bought it as it would have been a great beer & pizza night

FWIW i've tried 4e, and think its a slick combat system. However its not the right flavour for me. |
