Earthdawn Fourth Edition Player’s Guide

Fans of the Earthdawn setting have been through some rough seas, so to speak, as many creative visions have combined and, in some cases, clashed over bringing the best ideas they could into the game and the setting so well loved by so many.

Perhaps no signal so clearly declares the return of the great name of FASA back to the gaming hobby than this release.

An age of magic once existed in our world. Lost to history, this time is remembered in the echoes of myth and legend. Humans lived alongside the other Namegiver races—dwarf and elf, troll and ork, windling, t’skrang and obsidiman. The wild places of the world were home to griffins, shadowmants, and other fantastic beasts.

The land was once besieged by the Horrors, foul creatures from the depths of astral space that sought to feed upon and destroy all that was living and good. Their time—the time of the Scourge—has passed, and the people have returned to the surface, reclaiming the lands that were once their home.

Brave heroes band together to explore the land of Barsaive, fighting the Horrors that remain, and protecting their homes and families from those that would enslave them.

The Player’s Guide provides you with the rules for playing characters from First to Eighth Circle, with all the talents, spells, and other tools needed to forge your own legends in the Earthdawn Roleplaying Game!

The Fourth Edition is the newest version of the classic fantasy role-playing game. While this edition revises many of the existing rules systems, the core mechanics and assumptions remain the same. This edition also updates the game setting, advancing the timeline several years. Products using previous editions of the Earthdawn game can be used with Fourth Edition, but may require some conversion to be fully compatible.

Larger than Life

When one of the RPG Superstars kicks something into play, it’s almost always worth taking a serious look. This one brings giants into your Pathfinder campaign in…

(Wait for it.)

A big way.

Rocks will shatter, trees will ignite, bones will break!

Since the beginning of the RPG hobby, giants have been monsters to reckon with. Even the weakest giant towers over its foes and wreaks havoc with sheer physical strength. Give it armor, magic items, and the power of frost, fire, or lightning, and your players have real problems.

This 76-page book by RPG Superstar Mike Welham offers Thursir, Hill, Frost, Stone, Fire, Cloud, and Storm Giant NPCs—plus new spells, feats, and gear to strike terror into the hearts of puny adventurers.

Highlights include:

  • Berserkers and Avalanche Riders!
  • Dung Boulders and Magma Boulders!
  • Chieftains, war mammoths, and dire animal companions!
  • New stone giants spells from the bones of the earth!
  • The runes and metalcraft of the mystic thursir!

Here in the States, we celebrate Memorial Day. Known for pool parties and barbecues and another reason to take Mondays off, it's easy to forget why we're having the long weekend at all.

We play our games, often full of battles against terrible odds and acts of heroism. We do so, safe and secure in our homes and our club centers and our other places of gathering, in no small measure thanks to the sacrifices made by those who took up arms to defend us and our country.

This is not an invitation to debate; we might discourse at great length over the decisions made by leaders to send uniformed citizens into harms way for any of the myriad reasons they were sent. What is not up for debate is that each and every death should be honored by those of us remaining. They should be remembered thankfully.

That is what Memorial Day is, and on that day, I will raise my glass and give thanks for the last measure of devotion granted by those who served.

For all of us, thanks to them...

...the Adventure Continues!
