Video game designers use two terms worth understanding for all game designers and adventure designers, "atoms" and "loops". Some time ago I talked about Loops, this time it's about Atoms.

This review covers the Rogue Trader RPG of Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay. The characters are Explorers, part of a proud dynasty of privateering merchant princes known as Rogue Traders. They seek out profit in the dark dangerous void of space. Rogue Trader includes everything needed to run a campaign: a setting called the Koronus Expanse, adversaries and aliens, a starting adventure, and a variety of starships.

Welcome back to our weekly look at tabletop roleplaying game, and accessories, crowdfunding roundup! This week we look at a couple of 5th Edition/Pathfinder adventures, a classic solitaire Tunnels & Trolls adventure returns, an 18th century horror RPG and a great new set of dice. If you have anything you’d like us to cover, or questions about anything we talk about, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or contact me directly.

Hello everyone, Darryl here with this week's gaming news! A detailed look at the FFG reprint of West End Games's Star Wars, John Carter of Mars gets a QuickStart while its Kickstarter is still live, Clue getting a new movie, Cool Mini or Not goofs, and more!

Greetings. Today I'm going to discuss another of the Four Horsemen, War, and how you can work it into world building. PC vs NPC conflict is hard-baked into almost every RPG system, and especially apparent in systems like D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder. Most of these systems focus specifically on individuals in combat, however, and not on the macro effects of a war.

One of the things that I talked about as being a developing trend in role-playing games for 2018 has been science fiction as a rising genre. Kicked off by Gen Con's biggest selling game, Paizo's science fiction/fantasy role-playing game Starfinder, and hopefully buoyed by upcoming games like the new Alternity that is supposed to come out this year. But, it won't just be because of the big games that we'll see a surge in science fiction, no, the tiny games will be just as important as the big ones.

These five magical masks over on EN5ider, the 5th Edition Patreon, allow the wearer to wield different racial powers. The Mask of the Feychild, Stoneborn Death mask, Jawbreaker's War Mask, Mask of the Infernal Offpsing, and the Mask of Humanity each comes with the history of the mask, its powers and benefits for the wearer, and plot hooks suggesting places where the mask might be found and the NPCs who might wear them. The John Carter of Mars RPG, which has already been successfully funded on a currently-running Kickstarter, uses a streamlined, narrative version of Modiphius' 2d20 System. You can now check out a free short adventure which introduces the rules to you.
