A group of publishers have teamed together to create the Harvey_Relief Bundle to raise funds for charities operating in the areas hit by Hurricane Harvey. The Charity bundle is running until 12th September and you’ll get almost $400 worth of RPG PDFs for just a $25 donation.

Originally running between 1976 to 1983 Wyrm’s Footnotes was Chaosium’s house magazine for the World of Glorantha. After reappearing as a special Issue #15 in 2012 from Moon Design Publications, the magazine is making a complete comeback. Later this year we’ll be seeing Issue #16, heralding a relaunch of the publication.

With the adventure coming out in just a few days (September 8th), WotC's Chris Perkins summarises the concept and drops a few hints.

Last year, Sasquatch Game Studio announced that it had acquired the trademark for TSR's old Alternity science-fiction game. At the time, it was mentioned that they did not have the Star*Drive, Dark*Matter, Gamma World, StarCraft Adventures, or Star Frontiers, properties owned by WotC. This may be changing, though - because Evil Hat Productions has applied for the trademark to Star Frontiers.

Shadow of the Demon Lord (SotDL) plays like D&D with ten levels, great house rules, and with every character multiclassing. Layered in are rules for corruption and insanity. The setting features a haunted, dying world being invaded by a demon lord, whose corrupting shadow brings a variety of different rule and story effects. A dying empire is the default end of the world and nineteen other choices are detailed.

The crate model -- in which subscribers pay for a blind-box monthly delivery service of theme-related items -- has undergone some growing pains recently. Two data points indicate that the industry is maturing, but not without some rough patches.

If you're going to design games, or GM RPGs, it helps to understand a little bit about what makes games enjoyable. Game publishers often say in their guidelines for designers "game must be fun," but I've always found this to be useless because fun means different things to different people.

Looking for guides on how to best optimise or build a class or concept in your D&D 5th Edition game? Look no further than this thread!

Frank Mentzer's Worlds of Empyrea Kickstarter has been announced for Monday, 2nd October. I initially covered this a few weeks ago -- he is planing a 5E and Red Box compatible setting based on the same world as Greyhawk, and is inviting a group of TSR-era artists to join the project.

In the wake of the terrible disaster that fell upon Houston and the rest of that region (and, in many ways, is ongoing as of this writing), I dedicated my first Pick of the Week to pointing out many different avenues to which folks could contribute. I can also report that a bundle is currently being constructed for the purpose of providing aid to the region (more on that when I can). The rest of this past week was dedicated to games that work in some way to elevate, inspire, or just raise the joy in all of us. Welcome to Uplifting Games Week!

This issue of WotC's free in-house e-zine Dragon+ contains a Tomb of Annihilation adventure preview preyiew, discussions on the process of creating the boardgame Betrayal at Baldur's Gate, as well as some articles about the Tomb of Annihilation boardgame, a retrospective about boardgames in Dragon, a look at the Neverwinter MMORPGs TOA content, some advice on handling large player groups, a look at The Haunt, an advent on DM's Guild, maps of Chult, and more.

A treasure trove of new Dungeons & Dragons errata and Sage Advice was released today, and it includes changes from the 6th [update -7th!] printing of the Player's Handbook that address some of the slipperiest wording in the rules.

The kind folks over at Smiteworks have sent along some sneak peeks at the Fantasy Grounds virtual tabletop version of the upcoming D&D adventure Tomb of Annihilation. It'll be available from Smiteworks and Steam on September 8th, the same day it appears in some local game stores (and 11 days before it appears in most!) Take a look!

Alan Bahr’s Gallant Knight Games has merged with Ragnarok Publications – a novels and comics publisher based in Kansas. Alan is also taking on the role of COO and Publisher overseeing their games division and the fulfilment of such items as the Shotguns & Sorcery RPG based on Matt Forbeck’s novels. Alan was previously working for Stewart Wieck’s Nocturnal Media, who had also purchased Gallant Knight Games, but the company was returned to him after Stewarts sudden and untimely death earlier this summer. Welcome back to our weekly look at tabletop roleplaying game, and accessories, crowdfunding roundup! Hang on... it can't already be a week since my last column? I know right! You're getting a bonus column out of me because of the amount of the campaigns out there being crowdfunded at present! Yesterdays column looked at a bunch of Pathfinder and 5th Edition books available and today we're looking at some other campaigns... as well as a couple of Pathfinder/5E ones.

Sustenance and the lack of it has driven wars, informed politics, caused revolutions. The humble potato is a great example of food’s potential to drive history and narrative. It was introduced to Europe after contact with the Americas, and then became the staple food of a third of Ireland’s population. A potato blight then caused the Great Famine which killed a million and triggered the mass emigration of Irish people to the US.

The Core Rulebook for Eddy Webb’s Pugmire RPG has had its digital release on DriveThruRPG. The game, which did incredibly well on Kickstarter in March 2016, is set in a post-human world where uplifted dogs have created the kingdom of Pugmire. Think Lord of the Rings meets Planet of the Apes… but with dogs. Not to be outdone our feline friends also did very well on Kickstarter in Monarchies of Mau which funded in June of this year.
