    David Trampier Passes

Artist David Trampier has passed away. Trampier was responsible for a lot of art you may remember (he held the top 4 spots in Fiery Dragon's Top 10 AD&D art pieces) including my personal favourite, Emirikol the Chaotic, and the Wormy comic series from DRAGON Magazine during the 1980s, along with a number of notable AD&D book covers including the 1st Edition Player's Handbook.

Trampier disappeared and was rumoured dead back in 1988 (cartoonist Phil Foglio at the time explained that "When an artist's checks are returned uncashed, he is presumed dead"), but those rumours were later denied and family indicated that they believed he was still in Illinois as late as 2004. Various sources indicated he took up a new career as a taxi driver.

It appears that in recent months he had very tentatively considered re-entering the game industry, possibly via Troll Lord Games.

Thanks to Charles Akins for originally spotting the obituary linked above.
