  • Who's Playing What on Fantasy Grounds?

Fantasy Grounds has sent along its latest usage stat for 2016, showing which games folks are playing on its platform. As usual, 5E is out way ahead with a whopping 57% share, followed by Pathfinder. Then come Savage Worlds and D&D 3.5, followed by D&D 4E - essentially several versions of D&D, plus Savage Worlds hold the top five spots. Other notable contenders include FFG's Star Wars, Call of Cthulhu, Iron Kingdows, and Rolemaster Classic. In the below charts, "Core RPG" is Fantasy Ground's default core module which allows you to play a range of different games, rather than one of the specific packages.

Would not have guessed that Rolemaster would be that high. That is one game I was always interested in but could never get my group to play.

That's a massive amount of games. I never would of expected that many being played

@JesterOC, go check out www.fg-con.com and you might find a Rolemaster game with space available for the weekend of October 14-16 when the next con is and you can play for free.

I would have guessed incorrectly and put Shadowrun at a much larger segment.

I wish there was a supported rules set for Shadowrun.

Rolemaster gets played a bit because Fantasy Grounds takes care of a decent chunk of the book keeping and tables and stuff for this system making it run much faster. @JesterOC

@RedBoxDwarf Shadowrun can be hard to find enough regular players to get games started

That might explain it. We've tried playing it twice (well, once we tried MERP which was based on a simplified Rolemaster rules) and both times it was a complete disaster. Everyone agreed the system was basically unplayable without the aid of a computer.

A small correction. You mention the game "Iron Kingdows". I think you mean "Iron Windows", the triple glazing window sales simulationistic RPG.

      :-)

      Surprised Splittermond isn't counted yet.

Can't really use FG anymore due to connection issues.

Im always surprised at how low World of Darkness is on this list considering it is multiple active gamelines. I think part it might be that you cant take Fantasy Grounds numbers as gospel for the entire industry, just games their system supports well.

What's up with how Numenera is listed? If it is 1% of all total games, it's 3146 games and the graph is wrong. If it is 1% of other games, it's 547 games and the graph is still wrong. O.o

Assuming the 1% isn't a typo (its the only like that) it should be 1% of the 17% of the total games or around 2,750ish based on the 3%s of the 12%s for CoreRPG and 4E games.

but that would make it 500-ish, which would put it a lot lower than it is in the rankings.

You're probably right...but I don't think the WoD is anything like the juggernaut it was even a decade ago.

Does your ISP or network prevent VPNs? If not, then damned (or a couple of the other gurus) can help you that way.
