Welcome back to our weekly look at tabletop roleplaying game, and accessories, crowdfunding roundup! Each week we’ll be looking at a few campaigns currently running that have caught our eye as well as occasionally speaking to some of the creators about their campaigns, or looking at some of the ‘behind the scenes’ business aspects of putting together, launching, operating and then delivering a crowdfunded project. If you have anything you’d like us to cover, or questions about anything we talk about, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or contact me directly.

[h=3]Tales from the Loop – Roleplaying in the ‘80s That Never Was by Fria Ligan[/h]
(Campaign Ends : Thursday 15th December 2016; 19:00 UTC)

Fria Ligan (Free League) are the Swedish company behind Mutant: Year Zero and Coriolis. Simon Stalenhag is a brilliant Swedish artist whose work I’ve followed for a few years. Together they are creating ‘Tales from the Loop’ – a Role Playing Game based upon Simon’s artwork and set in an alternate 1980’s that fans of E.T. or Stranger Things will certainly appreciate.

“In 1954, the Swedish government ordered the construction of the world’s largest particle accelerator. The facility was completed in 1969, located deep below the pastoral countryside of Malaroarna. The local population called this marvel of technology The Loop.”

The game has two campaign settings available, one based on the Malaroarna islands outside of Stockholm, Sweden, and another (which has been unlocked as a stretch goal) set in the US. You play teenagers solving various Mysteries connected with the Loop. “The Mysteries let the characters encounter the strange machines and weird creatures that have come to haunt the countryside after the Loop was built. The kids get to escape their everyday problems and be part of something meaningful and magical – but also dangerous.”

Tales from the Loop is using the same rules system as Mutant: Year Zero, that won a Silver ENnie for Best Rules in 2015, and their sci-fi game Coriolis – The Third Horizon which was on Kickstarter a few months ago.

[h=3]World of Myrr Adventure Modules and Handbook for 5th Edition by Cawood Publishing[/h]
(Campaign Ends : Tuesday 27th December 2016; 07:33 UTC)

The World of Myrr campaign is looking at publishing six adventures (across three modules) plus the ‘Between Dungeons Handbook’ for 5th Edition rules. The adventures can be used as part of a series based in the World of Myrr, or used as standalone adventures.

The modules focus on heroic, old school style adventures, for 4 to 5 characters, and come in at between 20-40 pages in length (so each book will be between 40-80 pages).

The Old Wood/Chasing Kyzan (Levels 4 to 6)
Secrets of Port Telvan/The Village Siege (Levels 7 to 9)
Mothik’s Lair/The Wyldwood Race (Levels 10 to 12)

The Between Dungeons Handbook is a GM resource, coming in at around 100 pages, which contains a “collection of tools to use between adventures : descriptions of inns and taverns, tavern menus, stores, new monsters, event tables, other miscellaneous tables, travel information).

[h=3]Hypercorps 2099 Wasteland: 5th Edition Apocalyptic RPG 95E0 by Mike Myler[/h]
(Campaign Ends : Monday 19th December 2016; 04:59 UTC)

Hypercorps 2099 Wasteland
is a toolbox for the GM supplying you with a campaign setting sourcebook for post-atomic fantasy games. “There is no world map, each region doesn’t have a ruler with details on how they govern, and aside from some global rules (expressed largely through three new attributes) one game set in the Wasteland might be vastly different from another. My goal here is to make a book that helps you generate a customized Wasteland for your group! When you sit down to start a campaign in the Wasteland the party make their survivor PCs and the GM consults them on what general geographic location (continent) they want to emerge in, then rolls to determine the available resources in the first region. Each time the group enters a new region, the GM does so again, gradually building a personalized world map as the game goes on. If you’re on a time crunch there are tables you can roll on to randomly generate what each resource is, and the campaign takes on a vastly different tone – one that encourages exploration as much as it does adventure.”

The core book will contain an alternate timeline, four new classes, new character backgrounds and class archetypes, four new races, new equipment, new feats and spells, new rules (including starvation, radiation – and how it disrupts magic, and Luck), Resource and Settlement rules, over 20 new Wasteland monsters, and lots more.

The campaign is also offering three free PDFs that anyone interested can download – including a Primer, the Doctor Class, and Settlement Rules.

“Pockets of Earth are decimated by nuclear war in 1969 after the Bay of Pigs escalates into World War 3 and atomic weapons are unleashed across the planet. The alter sapiens of the world put aside their differences and use their abilities to create safe havens across the globe, saving those they can from nuclear devastation. Almost a century and a half has passed since the atomic apocalypse and through tireless scientific effort, areas of the world are becoming livable once more and civilization is creeping out to seek life once again under the sun – though doing so means surviving in the Wasteland and many believe they were better off locked away in their shelters.”

[h=3]The Crossing – A 4th level RPG Adventure by Michael Bielaczyc[/h]
(Campaign Ends : Thursday 22nd December 2016; 04:20 UTC)

The Crossing is the third book in the Return of the Fey adventure path for 4 to 6 Pathfinder characters of 3rd to 4th to 6th level. The book is over a hundred pages of encounters, locates and terrifying monsters. The module can be played as a standalone adventure, or combined with the earlier parts (The Goblins of Kaelnor Forest and The Dead Gulch) of the adventure path.

The book also contains maps of the cities of Ferryport (which has over 700 numbered locations, with over 40 locations identified by name and description), Taulon and First Hall, a scale map of a merchant ship, a map of The First Inn, and a map of an ancient mage tower.

So, what about the adventure at hand…

Merchant vessels have been disappearing on the river west of Ferryport. There are rumors of a river pirate, but when the adventurers investigate they will find far more behind the disappearances than the Guildmasters of Ferryport could ever have imagined. Deep within the Miragol Swamps, in place of great power, lies a long forgotten tower where ancient secrets are being unearthed by a treacherous former lord of Ferryport. Under his command are foul creatures remembered only in ancient legends and folktales. Will the heroes uncover his plot in time to save the region from war?

[h=3]Island of Moaning Voices by EPiK – 5E Compatible by Entire Party Kill[/h]
(Campaign Ends : Wednesday 28th December 2016; 20:37 UTC)

The Island of Moaning Voices is a 112-page, full color, epic adventure that can take a party from 1st to 10th level.

It is a whole new island of adventure, mystery, exploration, struggle for survival but also political intrigue and dark plots that can unfold and develop further in the, already planned, sequels. You can immediately start to play with the pre-generated characters or use your own, even if they are not novice ones! The Duke may call it Prosperity Island today but, for the inhabitants, is is still old Moaning Voices and it “welcomes” people of all kind and powers!

It is an old school flavored setting but in line with the simplicity and flexibility of the 5th Edition game. In the adventure module there will be many new monsters, creatures, spells, and magic items. Moreover, new rules for terrestrial exploration will let the players to use the strategic hexagonal map to discover this fascinating setting.

Island of Moaning Voices represents the frontier for the inhabitants of the rich seafaring Duchy of Belqualam, an only partially explored frontier, definitely wild and fraught with dangers. Furthermore, there is the recent discovery of a previous arcane metal whose properties are still not completely understood. The metal, called “Prosperium” to bring good luck to the beginning community, makes the Island a strategic center for the economy of the Duchy and its military supremacy over the neighboring Kingdom of Halethia.

However, the exploration and colonization of the Island have been particularly difficult. In an effort to clean up the island from the many hostile presences, the Duke thought of fathering there a large number of Adventurers. He has been successful in this endeavour thanks to a gimmick: since a few years ago, in fact, he organizes the Frag Fest on the island. It is a month long festival whose main attraction is The Great Hunt, a series of organized events and competitions designed to decimate the population of hostile creatures on Moaning Voices.

What of you? Will you be brave enough to undertake the journey to the Island and become a Hunter? Wealth, Glory, or simply Death… what is it really in stock for you?

I just stumbled over Simon Stalenhag's artwork, thanks to a pointer over at BGG. It's absolutely stunning!
So, 'Tales from the Loop' is really one of those very few kickstarters, I serisouly consider to support.
