The Last Flight of the Amuar
Traveller Reach Adventure #4

In Reach Adventure 4: Last Flight of the Amuar, a Leviathan-class merchant cruiser was engaged in an exploratory trade cruise into the so-called Outrim Void, a region of sparse star systems just over the border from Imperial space. Long-range merchant cruisers were built for regions like this, and have been successful. However, there have been losses too. Among them was the Amuar, which ‘went Outrim’ as the saying goes. She is long overdue, presumed lost, and has not been located by a search of the trans-border worlds.

The Travellers are engaged by a relative of one of Amuar’s crew, who has an idea of where she might have been headed. What was the fate of the Amuar and her crew, and can either be recovered?

This adventure takes place in Egryn and Pax Rulin subsectors of the Trojan Reach sector, and would make an excellent introduction to this region’s many adventuring possibilities. Almost any group of Travellers will be suitable for this adventure, though they will need to be able to operate their starship or have suitable crew available to do it for them.

Reach Adventure 4: Last Flight of the Amuar contains background information on the Senlis Foederate and Belgardian Sojurnate, both pocket empires within the Trojan Reach, along with a detailed view of Leviathan-class merchant cruisers, and the Lancer-class corvette.

Codenames Duet

Codenames Duet keeps the basic elements of Codenames — give one-word clues to try to get someone to identify your agents among those on the table — but now you're working together as a team to find all of your agents. (Why you don't already know who your agents are is a question that Congressional investigators will get on your back about later!)

To set up play, lay out 25 word cards in a 5×5 grid. Place a key card in the holder so that each player sees one side of the card. Each player sees a 5×5 grid on the card, with nine of the squares colored green (representing your agents) and one square colored black (representing an assassin). The assassin is in different places on each side of the card, and three of the nine squares on each side are also green on the other side!

Collectively, you need to reveal all fifteen agents — without revealing either assassin or too many innocent bystanders — before time runs out in order to win the game. Either player can decide to give a one-word clue to the other player, along with a number. Whoever receives the clue places a finger on a card to identify that agent. If correct, they can attempt to identify another one. If they identify a bystander, then their guessing time ends. If they identify an assassin, you both lose! Unlike regular Codenames, they can keep guessing as long as they keep identifying an agent each time; this is useful for going back to previous clues and finding ones they missed earlier.

The Agents

Dwarves are among the bravest, determined and hard workers creatures you can find. Especially when they are searching for crystals in a new mine.

In Quartz, you belong to a group of dwarves who has just discovered a new mine on their land. Excited by the discovery, you decided to make a bet. Everyone will explore the mine for five days. At the end of each day you will sell in the city, the crystals you extracted during this day. At the end of the fifth day, the dwarf who earned the most money will become the only owner of the mine.

Following along the same lines as its predecessor, Ouro de Tolo, Quartz is fast and tense game of push-your-luck and risk management in which the players, acting as dwarven miners, try to secure the best crystals for themselves while keeping their "colleagues" at bay. Each turn a player has three choices:
· Extract a crystal, i.e., pull a crystal from the bag.
· Play a card that brings him advantages or causes problems for opponents.
· Leave the mine for that workday and cash in sets of crystals collected that day.

Some of the main differences to the previous game are that now theres is only 5 rounds, you have more strategic actions and every card is worth victory points at the end of the game, it's possible to save up crystals from one round to the other, whenever two unstable crystal explodes you get experience tokens that will save you later, and a set collection that can double or sum more cash each round.

Mythe

The peaceful kingdom of Mythe has been unexpectedly raided by the evil red dragon and his monster companions! The red dragon has taken away the golden Sacred Cheese, the symbol of the kingdom's prosperity and unity, and the fate of the kingdom is now in peril. The brave young heroes of Mythe must now set out on a desperate journey to the dragon's castle and recover the Sacred Cheese!

The players in Mythe, as mice heroes, must travel to the castle of the red dragon, where one of them has to defeat the evil creature and recover the Sacred Cheese. The player who does this wins the game! To progress on their journey, players must draw cards from other players' hands, one by one. When a player has decided that they have taken enough cards, they can decide to advance their hero on the game board. However, if a player draws a Obstacle card, then the hero must stop and deal with the mishap, not moving on that turn.

When a player finishes their turn (whether they advanced or not), they may then redistribute any of their cards to the other players. To win the game, a hero must have one of the legendary cards — Shield, Sword, or Fairy — then move onto the Dragon's space to defeat him and save the Sacred Cheese.

4 The Birds

4 the Birds is the board game in which you will use beak-and-taloned strategy as well as a peck of luck to be the first to "flock" four of your birds together in a tree besieged by a menagerie of other birds trying to do the same. By constantly balancing the goal of flocking your own birds and "Flock-Blocking" opponents' birds, a see-saw battle for avian supremacy ensues — and beware the non-player bird-baddies (crows and hawks) that can swoop in to un-nest a would-be winner.
Gameplay is simple. Each player rolls two dice on their turn to indicating coordinates on the game board grid (the tree) to place and move your six birds on the board. Each turn a player has the choice to place a bird at the rolled coordinate or play one of seven Action Cards as they work to achieve the winning formation of a four bird flock (either a square or straight line on the grid).

Odd...the Director's Handbook for the Dracula Dossier has been in print and in stores for over a year.

That's really odd. Esdevium (the largest UK supplier) is listing it as new this week... was the original hardcover or could this be a need Hardcover edition? Being a year old does explain why it didn't appear on a number of the retailers 'new releases' lists I get through though.

I backed the Kickstarter in 2014 and received that book and some others in 2015, and no later than early 2016 those same books appeared on my FLGS' shelves. I ran it for a few months well over a year ago and some of my players picked up the books.

I bet Dracula has something to do with this - that's what the Pelgrane folks might say.

No, UK stores have had it for some time now too. Thus not including it on their new releases mailshots. I think Esdevium either got mixed up or (more likely) got a restock and relisted it but the copy editor forgot to mark it as a restock on the retailer forms.

Thanks for compiling these all the same. I mainly get my news and releases from ENWorld. Even though I follow a lot of the companies etc on Twitter I often don't hear about things until I read them here. (Posting during my night time would not help ;)). These are very handy :)
