Dragon Kings Player’s Rulebook for 5E by Mindscape Publishing
(Campaign Ends : Sunday 10th December 2017; 17:26 UTC)

You may remember Dragon Kings from a few years ago when creator Timothy Brown (Dark Suns) ran a successful campaign on Kickstarter to fund the game for Pathfinder, Savage Worlds and 13th Age. Now brand new Spanish company Mindscape Publishing, headed by Paco Garcia Jaen (G*M*S Magazine), have partnered with Battlefield Press (Eldricth Skies, Terran Trade Authority) to bring the dark and exotic world of Khitus to 5th Edition with this Player’s Rulebook.

The Dragon Kings Player’s Rulebook will be around 20,000+ words long and will contain information on races, classes, personalities and backgrounds, equipment, spellcasting and creatures native to the Khitus setting.

Dragon Kings showed us a ruthless and extremely dangerous world, with exotic races of humanoids and non-humanoids that depart from more traditional roleplaying games paradigms.
Khitus, the setting where Dragon Kings is located, is a world that is slowly dying. Its forest becoming deserts due to dreadful influences on the planet that are draining its natural resources.

With magic that takes a dreadful toll on those who use it, psionics are awakening. Races of long ago mindless insects are evolving and expanding, with a thirst for conquest that threatens the entire planet. Lizardmen become cleverer by the day.

The world is changing as it dies, and only strong heroes have a chance to slow down or halt its demise.

That would be you.

Dragon Kings is a departure from more traditional fantasy settings, and has a darker and more exotic edge to it.

Add to this the intensity of the world and the new classes that it presented, and it's impossible not to appreciate the vast potential and richness of this game.

The gorgeous art, the amazing cartography - Dragon Kings really stood high among the best and most innovative RPGs.

You can download a free 15-page Gazetteer to see more information about the setting.

Changeling: The Lost 2nd Edition by Richard Thomas
(Campaign Ends : Thursday 14th December 2017; 17:00 UTC)

Changeling: The Lost was originally published in 2007. Now Onyx Path Publishing return to Arcadia with the latest in their line of second edition rulebooks for the Chronicles of Darkness, bringing out a 300+ page prestige hardcover edition designed to match those of Vampire: The Requiem, Werewolf: The Forsaken and Mage: The Awakening.

Changeling: The Lost, Second Edition will include the many kinds of changelings and their Courts, powers and other perks for the Lost, antagonists such as Huntsmen, Hedge Ghosts, and of course the True Fae, and cities from around the world with their own local Courts.

Chapters include:
· The Fair and the Foul: Seemings (the fairy tale roles changelings play) and Courts (the most common groups in changeling culture).
· More in Heaven and Earth: The worlds changelings move through, and descriptions of changeling culture.
· Words of Wonder: Character creation, Contracts (powers) and Merits for changelings.
· Words of Binding: The core Chronicles of Darkness rules, plus subsystems like Hedge shaping and dream battles.
· Shared Nightmares: Allies and antagonists for the Lost, ranging from goblins to True Fae.
· All the Kingdoms of the Earth: Changeling society in different cities, including local Courts for each one.
· Tales Around the Fire: Storytelling advice, including Chronicle-building, rules for creating new Courts and Contracts, and player safety advice.
· Appendix: The Fae-Touched: Character creation for those bound by promises they made to changelings before the changelings' abduction.

You know the stories. The hero leaves his village on a terrifying journey, or the waif finds her way through the cold, dark woods. In the end, they kill the giant or shove the witch in an oven.
But what happens next?

In Changeling: The Lost, you take on the role of an ordinary person who has seen the extraordinary. Lured or abducted by the alien Gentry, you have passed the gates and Hedges between our world and the vast fantastic.

In Arcadia, the Gentry changed you. They forged your flesh and sewed your bones, and they gave you a role to play. You were a lover or a servant or a monster. But it was never your story.
Having run from your Keeper and climbed your way back through the Hedge (and didn’t the thorns bite more than they did going in?), you’re back in the world of pizza and Facebook and nuclear anxiety.

Your eyes are open now. You can see that magic is not the sole province of Faerie. The world is alive with wonders most people never see...and rife with horrors that count on that unwariness. It’s all part of your life now. You take the good with the bad, the magic with the monstrosity, the beauty with the madness.

It’s not always an easy story, not always a happy story. But now it’s your story.

Aventuria Compendium – The Dark Eye RPG by Ulisses Spiele
(Campaign Ends : Saturday 9th December 2017; 01:00 UTC)

The Aventuria Compendium is the first rules supplement for the ENnie-Award winning Dark Eye RPG. The 240 page full-color book comes in three formats (regular or limited edition red leatherette or black leather) and is packed with rules, examples of play and new character options.

As the first in a series of sourcebooks focusing on each major character type, the Compendium concentrates on non-magical professions such as fighters and rogues, yet offers much that is useful for every character. The Compendium reveals the power in the spoken word, the hands of the artisan, and the fighter’s blade, and gives you the rules to make it count.

Alongside the Compendium a second book is also being offered in this campaign – The Aventuria Armory.

The Armory is a collection of highly useful gear for your Aventurian heroes. The Armory presents new material on classic Aventurian weapons and introduces new weapons such as the Warunk hammer, the broadsword, and the fearsome, two-handed Pailos axe. Each entry provides rules. Advantages, and disadvantages that make every weapon stand out.

The Armory also presents armor, travel gear, books, provisions, and everything else an adventuring hero needs. Each item includes a full-color illustration and suggestions for uses in the world of The Dark Eye.

The settlers dammed the river and may have damned themselves! The diverted river has awoken the cliffs themselves. Strange rumblings in the earth and smoke from the cliff tops are sure signals of trouble. The residents of Fertile Valley need some heroes, can you save Fertile Valley before it’s too late?

Crippled God – Game Tiles Terrain and Accessories by Crippled God Foundry
(Campaign Ends : Tuesday 12th December 2017)

Greek company Crippled God are producing a range of dungeon terrain tiles, and adventuring accessories, over on Indiegogo. The pieces are available either painted or unpainted and start from $10 (plus shipping) for an unpainted camping site set all the way up to $315 (plus shipping) for the Dungeon Master Rules set which includes 41 painted dungeon tiles, 60 painted items (bookcases, beds, tables, traps, tomb, etc) plus a bunch of extras including 41 anti-slide bases…

As gamers in “Crippled God Foundry” we based our modular tile system in the common base size of miniatures and therefore we increased the common square dimensions from 2,5 cm x 2,5 cm to 3cm x 3cm. In this way each flat tile can easily fit 4 miniatures .

In more detail each tile, is 6cm x 6cm, divided into 4 squares of 3cm x 3cm and with 2cm wall height (if there is any). With maximum height of 2 cm, it is easy to move miniatures, dice, and accessories without much effort.

The range certainly looks very nice and is worth checking out for fans of companies such as Dwarven Forge.

The Necronomnomnom – A Cookbook of Eldritch Horror by Red Duke Games
(Campaign Ends : Saturday 9th December 2017; 19:57 UTC)

Wrapping up this weeks column we turn our attention away from the gaming table for a moment and to the kitchen… with a Lovecraftian inspired cookbook.

We love H.P. Lovecraft's stories. We love food. We can't really stop the compulsion to make egregious puns. It's a form of insanity...which is perfectly appropriate for fans of Lovecraft's work.

We had this crazy idea... We're gonna make a Cookbook of recipes based on Lovecraft stories, creatures, and characters, as well as whatever else we thought was relevant (cool/funny/groan-worthy). BUT THEN, above all - the recipes that we chose had to taste good! ALSO as a bonus we wanted the Cookbook to look like the prototypical spellbook of incantations and summonings much like the Necronomicons (Necronomici? No, no - now it sounds Italian...) found in stories and movies like "The Evil Dead". And we succeeded!

These are some damnably good looking and tasting recipe's and meals in here.

Let us teach you the rituals. You can sacrifice some hard-earned currency to summon forth this Tome of Forbidden Victuals. Together, let us bring into existence... The NECRONOMNOMNOM!

The Book will be a hardcover 9" x 12" Tome, upwards to 100 full pages with heavy natural paper professionally bound and lovingly detailed for the look of an archetypal book of spells and rituals. Each recipe will be artistically shown and detailed on its first page with the preparation/instructions on the following page(s). Color tiles of the completed recipes may be included at the end of the book (so we don't ruin the overall look of the book but to allow you to see what the recipes can look like when prepared) depending on funding levels. The Color tiles are available currently to backers in digital format.

You’ll find a variety of different types of recipes in the cookbook, such as Beverages (Gin and Miskatonic, Brain Cylinder), Breakfast (The Muesli of Eric Zahn), Appetizers (Sacrificial Lamb, Shog-Pockets), Soups (New England Damned Chowder), Sandwiches (Migo to Go), Meat dishes (Curried Favor of the Old Ones), Fish dishes (Deep fried Deep One), Vegetarian dishes (Elder Thing Parmigiana), Side Dishes (Tcho-Tcho Chow Chow), Deserts (Yogsicles, Moon-Beast Pies), Breads (The Oats of Dagon) and Kids Menu (Cultists in a Robe).

Certainly a way to ‘treat’ your friends before settling down for games night.

Thank you! I completely missed that this had gone up.
No problem. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't backed Tome of Beasts and got on the mailing list. Given how much hoopla they had earlier this year that they were going to do this, actual announcements that it has started seem rare.

First Post

Creature Codex is on the list for two weeks time. I've largely been covering campaigns that are about to finish in the column recently as there have been so many out there. I had to run columns twice a week for a couple of weeks to just help catch up and cover as many as I could!

CC is certainly on the radar and list though :)
