    Core Rulebook
    By Gallant Knight Games

Saddle up, grunt. There’s killin’ to be done.

Aliens & Asteroids is a tabletop roleplaying game about gritty, dark, terrifying science fiction stories, combining the uncertainty of space exploration with the horror of discovering beings and technologies beyond our understanding. Set in a futuristic universe where Space Marines do the grunt work for the Dominion, a corporate-led governmental entity that manages all of human-occupied space, you’ll face aliens and horror from beyond the edges of imagination.

You play grunts, sent out into the void to combat aliens, rescue idiots from the fruits of their adventurous spirit, and explore worlds to discover life or technology worth exploiting in the name of humankind. Keep your pulse rifle handy, because there’s a good chance everything you meet wants you dead.

Aliens & Asteroids utilizes the Inverse20 engine, a fast resolution system that utilizes a d20. Included are rules for character and drone creation, setting details, and guidelines for designing missions and alien creatures for your players to encounter, plus a starting scenario that provides a quick start to your campaign!

The rules are focused on allowing you to tell exciting stories around alien encounters, abductions, combats, and horrors, inspired by science-fiction films like Aliens and Starship Troopers, computer games like X-COM: UFO Defense, and television shows like Babylon-5 and The Expanse.

Time to grab a handful of dice, some pencils, some players, and get ready for your next science fiction adventure!

    After the Vampire Wars
    Mythras/BRP Setting
    By Design Mechanism

The shadows have always been with us, and so have those who dwell within: the sorcerers, the fae, the lycanthropes and, darkest of them all, the vampires. All have secretly lived alongside humanity, veiled from mortal view, for milennia, but now they are exposed to the light, and the supernatural walks among us.

Early in the 21st Century, the US Government discovered the existence of vampires and sought to eradicate them. Thus began the Vampire Wars, killing thousands, and ended only by the triggering of a nuclear warhead. And now, after the Vampire Wars, the world must adjust to a new reality: one where vampires openly walk the streets, where lycanthropes prowl the urban centres, and where sorcerers tout their services from strip malls.

In After the Vampire Wars, you play the creatures of the shadows: seers, fae, lycanthropes and, of course, vampires. Each species has its own special powers and abilities, and some possess formidable magical and psychic talents. After the Vampire Wars adapts the Mythras rules to the contemporary era and the urban fantasy genre. It supports a wide range of campaign types: from gritty Noir, to fast and deadly cinematic adventure; from whimsical urban fantasy to passion-fuelled paranormal romance.

After the Vampire Wars takes Mythras into new territory and does it with style. Fully compatible with the entire Mythras range, After the Vampire Wars creates a fascinating alternate universe where nothing is quite as it seems and where the supernatural struggles for control with the mundane. Take your first steps into the Shadow World and discover life After the Vampire Wars.

    Neomancer – a cyberpunk RPG
    Core Rulebook
    By SPIRA Productions

    Welcome to the future!

The government and giant corporations rule society. Genetic evaluation keeps those in place that have not enough money or influence to climb up the social ladder. Artificial intelligence is present everywhere, and cyberpods - the first artificial beings - beg the question what it means to be human and where to draw the line. The poor live their lives in overcrowded slums, pursuing lowly jobs that barely pay enough to make a living while the rich have no such troubles.

Between all this, Operators exist. Highly talented, trained, augmented and expendable individuals living outside of society in a dystopian megacity like Los Angeles. They work for unknown third-parties who want something done off the books, be it industrial espionage, sabotage, assassination or whatever else needs to be done.
They are professionals, using cyberware and their unique skills to accomplish their mission and deal with the downside of altering their bodies: alienation. When they lose touch with their humanity they start to suffer the consequences.

    Masks of Nyarlathotep
    Eldritch Horror Expansion
    By Fantasy Flight Games

Eldritch Horror: Masks of Nyarlathotep is an expansion for Eldritch Horror, a cooperative board game for one to eight players in which intrepid investigators must traverse the globe in an attempt to thwart the cataclysmic rise of an otherworldly Ancient One. Strange cults are gathering strength in remote corners and bustling cities all over the world. Though they seem to worship different gods, the investigators have found a thread that runs throughout all of the cultists’ horrific rites.

In Masks of Nyarlathotep, each of these sects pursues the awakening of an aspect of the same horrific creature: Nyarlathotep. This being is known as the Messenger of the Outer Gods, and he is the only Ancient One that still actively walks among humanity. The investigators must work to stop the cults springing up to serve his many guises, or Nyarlathotep will gain enough strength to open the Ultimate Gate, ushering in an unthinkable doom. Strike down these cults in new Adventures, explore ancient mysteries among new Mystic Ruins, and destroy the monstrous followers of Nyarlathotep. New to this expansion, Personal Stories unique to each character add stakes to the actions undertaken by each investigator, and a Campaign mode adds a fresh challenge and enriches the narrative of the investigators’ struggles to stop the many cults worshipping the multitude of faces worn by one dread being in Eldritch Horror: Masks of Nyarlathotep!

    By Fantasy Flight Games

When you could no longer find the answers you needed in Arkham, you voyaged across the Atlantic to France and entered the catacombs of the dead beneath Paris. Now, you travel to the island commune of Mont Saint-Michel, as brooding, dark clouds cover the sky. A storm is coming—and it’s unclear if our world will survive.

Black Stars Rise offers the latest chapter in The Path to Carcosa cycle, and the latest tale of your own madness. You have looked upon the face of the Stranger. You have beheld the Pallid Mask and the Tattered Cloak. New player cards arrive in this Mythos Pack, cards with palliative names like “Stick to the Plan,” “Narrow Escape,” or “Ward of Protection.” Their names are a lie, dripping with false comfort that only the truly mad will embrace. A Column of Fire
    2-4 players, ages 12+, 60-90+ minutes
    By Kosmos
A Column of Fire is an adaptation of the third novel in Ken Follett's "Kingsbridge" series following The Pillars of the Earth and World Without End.

In the game, set in Europe during the time of Elizabeth I, Catholics and Protestants compete for power and influence in England, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. In this politically unstable environment, resourceful operatives and courageous secret agents plot to secure power for their rulers. The balance of power shifts back and forth amidst foiled assassinations, successful rebellions, and futile invasions — and not infrequently, those who sympathize with the weak are expelled from the country.

The real enemies, then as now, are not the rival religions. The true battle pits those who believe in tolerance and compromise against the tyrants who would impose their ideas on everyone else — no matter what the cost. Who will best exploit the changing power conditions in Europe to win the game?

During each turn, players draw the first four cards from their personal workers deck, then play two rounds in the turn. Red Star White Eagle, Russo-Polish War 1920
    1-3 players, ages 12+, 180-480+ minutes
    By Compass Games

Red Star/White Eagle: The Russo-Polish War, 1920, Designer Signature Edition, marks the return of a true wargaming classic by David Williams, remastered and updated with this all-new edition. Celebrated by many as one of the finest and often sought-after game titles ever produced by Game Designers’ Workshop (GDW, 1979) on a fascinating, almost forgotten conflict that would determine the course of European history for the next twenty years or more.

To the West, the First World War was “the war to end all wars”. To the submerged nationalities of Eastern Europe, this war removed the obstacles to their political aspirations– Tsarist Russia collapsed in 1917; Germany and Austria-Hungary were defeated in 1918. The disintegration of these empires sparked a chaotic period of struggles in Eastern Europe, as proponents of the old order, nationalists, and revolutionary socialists fought for supremacy. The conflict between the Poles and the Bolsheviks was the most important campaign in determining the borders of Eastern Europe.

Red Star/White Eagle is an operational level simulation that faithfully recreates the 1920 conflict over the border areas of Eastern Europe. Game play is not for the faint of heart with open maneuvering creating a fast and fluid situation as both sides seek the opportunity to outflank and attack. Nearly any defensive line can be bypassed in the wide-open expanse of West Russia, forcing players to probe for vulnerabilities and seize the initiative. An exhaustive Order of Battle helps capture the key historically facets of the campaign including supply, cavalry charges, armored trains, loss of command, inter-front cooperation, rail nets, railroad reserve, flotillas and marines, border garrisons, numerous specialized units, and more.

Hirelings and Henchmen by Cawood looks good and a future purchase. I've started painting some of my D&D minis again (Ral Partha classic from the 90s to Wizkids Nolzur minis) and usually when I'm painting each, I start thinking of a character to use for the minis. I can find something very close in these type of publications that fits nicely with what I was creating in my head while painting and save myself the time to roll up stats.
