Congratulations To The 2018 ENnies Nominees!
  • Congratulations To The 2018 ENnies Nominees!

As the tabletop award season continues, the 2018 Gen Con EN World RPG Awards nominees are here! Congratulations to all the individual nominated creators, writers, editors, artists, graphic designers, and more who make these wonderful products!

The ENnies, at their core, are our way of thanking and honouring those individuals who create the products which form our hobby. A roleplaying game product needs writers, editors, artists, and other hardworking folks, and this is the time of year where we pause, and we just congratulate them on a job well done. Whether it's the awesome cover an artist produced for a major hardcover RPG, or clever rules design in the latest indie game, every part of the finished product requires a talented individual to create it.

There were over 500 submitted products this year, and 23 categories and 72 publishers feature in this year's nominations. And for the first time, we have the Best Organised Play category!

Also be sure to listen to this week's episode of Morrus' Unofficial Tabletop RPG Talk podcast, where we have an ENnies special!

Voting for the ENnies Awards, 2018 Fan Favorite Publisher, and 2019 Judges will be open from July 11, 2018- July 21, 2018 at 11:59pm EDT!

Winners will be announced on August 3rd at 8 P.M. EST at Union Station during GenCon in Indianapolis, Indiana. You can also watch the awards live via streaming - more details coming soon!

I feel it’s important to recognise that the ENnies are about individual RPG creators, who are hard working and rarely rich. Companies are made up of individuals. Giving a writer or an artist or an editor an award is a small gesture, but it’s a wholesome and positive one. It gives them a deserved moment to treasure. With that in mind, I do hope your first reaction is one of congratulation; the world is negative enough as it is!

Wizards of the Coast elected to not enter this year. They told me they were happy to let smaller companies have the spotlight this year.

The corebook cover is, yes, but the supplement, Conan the Barbarian is what is nominated. Phrolian Gardner is the artist on that,

That's too bad--it's always fun to see when an indie product gets enough groundswell to beat them.

      Cool!
to be honest, I prefer to see titles that I either haven't heard of before or that have gained little traction, yet. There are so many great products being released, it's hard to keep track.

I am an avid collector of the products published by Modiphius Entertainment, and this particular role playing game includes the work of so many famous artists, hence, I supported this Conan Kickstarter big time.

The cover artist for "Conan The Barbarian" sourcebook is Phrolian Gardner
(see photograph with name in top right corner)

I can't believe I got a nomination - that's so cool! I loved illustrating the Atlas Animalia and put all my heart into it. It's awesome to see that others are enjoying it as well.

Yeah, this is an exciting list. Especially glad to see Blades in the Dark on there; just ran a short one-shot of it at work last week and I'm really considering putting my D&D campaign on hiatus to take on a full campaign with BitD.

That is an error, indeed! Especially as I look at the original judges' selections. And it was clearly labeled as a web site in its submission.
If they don't change it, I suggest contacting the awards directly.

Also impressed that all five of the finalists for best OP adventure are from the Adventurers League.
Not to diminish your accomplishments, because they are indeed worthy, but Adventurers League were the only peeps to submit for OP afaik.
Hopefully next year, more publishers and fans from other Living campaigns and the like will submit!

FYI, Wizards of the Coast have participated intermittently since 2002 (ie. the second awards ceremony).
They did not submit products this year.

However when we were judging, we selected the one by Brom. I guess there's either an error, or they changed things after I left.

The WOTC team often comes though--they just hang out and run games rather than having an official presence.

Conan: Adventures in an Age Undreamed Of is the book with the Brom cover art. According to the documentation I have, Conan: Conan the Barbarian's cover art was selected by the consensus of the judges and the cover artist for that book is Phrolian Gardner.
