Eberron It Is? [UPDATED & CONFIRMED!]

As I said in the other thread, the question is now whether we're just going to see DMs Guild and PDF support, or whether, once the psionic and artificer rules are set, we'll be seeing something more substantial in the way of an actual published book. I have a feeling that once the necessary rules are in place (with a likely rules expansion book early next year for new classes and races), we'll be seeing a full book, and this is just to whet the appetite and get things started...

We should hear more about D&D settings later today (including possible confirmation of the Ravnica setting), but it looks like Eberron is on the cards! There's no sign at present of a hardcover setting book like Ravnica, but it has been added to the list of settings available to Dungeon Masters Guild publishers. At least, not in the terms and conditions at the moment, but in the back-end settings available to publishers on the site.

As a reminder, today (July 23rd) we should be hearing official news about Dungeons & Dragons settings. The previous rumour was that two settings would be opened up on DMs Guild for authors to access; over the weekend we've seen one Magic: The Gathering setting D&D hardcover book (Ravnica) pop up on Amazon, and now this little nugget. I guess we'll hear more later!

It's worth noting, however, that despite its inclusion in the publishing menu, the terms and conditions still say:

"Settings

You can create setting generic content. You can also create content for Forgotten Realms (Faerun) and Ravenloft.

You cannot create content for Eberron, Greyhawk, Dark Sun, Dragon Lance, Zendikar, personal settings, or any other D&D setting that is not specifically listed above."

UPDATE! Conformation just arrived by email from WotC's PR company. It's a (roughly) 150-page PDF on DMs Guild.

More enfranchised D&D fans may know that Keith Baker created the Eberron setting as part of the Fantasy Setting Search conducted in 2002, and the D&D team has been working with him to update the setting. The first step is the Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron, a digital release in the Dungeon Masters Guild online marketplace, which will serve to collect feedback on adjusted races, dragon marks, new backgrounds and more. Fans can also use this document as a jumping off point to create their own monsters, adventure modules, and other tabletop content set within Eberron and put it up for sale on the Dungeon Masters Guild (dmsguild.com).

“It's been sixteen years since I planted the first seeds that would become Eberron, and watching it grow has been an amazing journey,” Keith Baker, creator of Eberron. “So many good people have been involved in creating the world we see today, and it's been wonderful to see it come to life. Since the inception of Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition with the public playtest involving more than 175,000 fans and continuing with the current record-breaking success of the brand, the focus has been on listening to fan feedback. D&D is excited to travel to Ravnica and Eberron in 2018 and other planes beyond in 2019!

If I were a betting woman, my money would be on tomorrow’s UA being the latest iteration of the Psion and/or the Artificer, out for one final round of feedback before going into an Eberron hardcover in early 2019.

I hope the other setting book in this years release, in addition to Ravenica, is not Eberron - they appear pretty similar in their techno backgrounds. Still it's better than more FR for variety, but I would certainly prefer a classic DnD setting. What I've read today on Ravenica has a lot of similarities to Eberron, stylistically too. Maybe that's why we're getting two settings, as they can double up on rules/classes/etc

Don't know if this is just DMs Guild or an actual book, but check out the new setting options for uploading new works, if you can. It now lists Eberron as an option.

Then Keith Baker will finally be able to present new Eberron material for 5e, right?

I think that's been there ever since they merged the DM's Guild store with the D&D Classics one.

Note that if you first select to filter products to the DM's Guild only, the setting sidebar becomes restricted to only FR and Ravenloft.
