SIGMATA: This Signal Kills Fascists
Core Rulebook
By Land of NOP LLC

From the author of Cryptomancer comes SIGMATA: This Signal Kills Fascists, a cyberpunk tabletop role-playing game about ethical insurgency against a fascist regime, taking place in a dystopian vision of 1980's America.

Players assume the role of Receivers, the superheroic vanguard of the Resistance, who possess incredible powers when in range of FM radio towers emitting a mysterious number sequence called "The Signal." When the Signal is up, Receivers lead the charge against battalions of Regime infantry and armor or serve as the People's Shield, protecting mass demonstrations from the brutality of a militarized police force and neo-Nazi hooligans. When the Signal is down, however, Receivers are mere mortals, desperately fleeing from a powerful state that senses their weakness.

It's called the Sigmata, a Signal-induced stigmata, because it is a both a blessing and a curse. At least when you're marked by the state, you can’t sit on the sidelines anymore.

  • [*=center]Construct your cybernetic revolutionary with a wide assortment of cybernetic implants, Signal-fueled superpowers, iconic equipment, and invokable story hooks.
[*=center]Leverage strong teamwork mechanics to prevail in structured scenes of combat, evasion, and intrigue, each scene putting every player at the table in the spotlight.
[*=center]Manage a fragile alliance of partisans from vastly different ideological backgrounds and steel the Resistance against sabotage, extremism, dwindling morale, and shocking betrayals.
[*=center]Contend with the Regime in a constantly evolving political struggle powered by the game's built-in insurgency sandbox, which incorporates Resistance and Regime strategy, factional loyalty, and the sentiment of the people.

This Signal Kills Fascists. Repeat the Signal.

Legendary Barbarians
Pathfinder Supplement
By Legendary Games

100% Concentrated RAGE!

Legendary Barbarians is the latest volume in our series of class-focused player supplements, this time focusing on the fearsome barbarians! This core class has long been a staple of fantasy settings, representing both the power of anger and the rejection of civilization. Legendary Barbarians enhances these ideas with a streamlined redesign of the class that provides flexibility, power, and flavor, able to customize the benefits of your rage to open up an incredible variety of savage soldiers! Enlarging rage increases the barbarian’s size (Hulk Smash), while invincible rage lets her shrug off attacks with ease. Bestial rage transforms the barbarian to an animal and vicious rage sacrifices her hit points for greater damage.

Dozens of rage powers and alternate class features allow a piece-by-piece construction of your perfect barbarian, while 11 new archetypes (such as the mutagenic rager, slavering nightmare, and righteous berserker) tie your abilities together in a theme, like the savage that trades rage for a more stoic approach and the fury that just can't stop raging! All this, plus tons of new feats like Wield Halfling, magic items like the totemic club, barbarian brands, unchained support, sample character builds, and more, including a ready-to-use legendary barbarian, Gorund Wildwalker! The Black Madonna
Kult: Divinity Lost Campaign
By Helmgast / Modiphius

When the new year’s eve of 1941 shifts to 1942, all the candles extinguish in the churches of Leningrad. The Saint’s faces turn to black. The fabric of reality tears. When morning comes, twenty priests are found dead by their own hands. A silent girl with many secrets is found in a closed off basement. No one knows who she is or where she lives. With no other options available, she is taken to an orphanage where nothing is as it seems.

The same cold winter night, Dimi, an old icon painter, meets a strange woman on his way home. She reveals her face to him and gives him a command, then walks away. Back in his small apartment, he immediately starts painting a new icon. An icon depicting a Black Madonna.

The Black Madonna is a legendary KULT campaign previously unreleased outside of Sweden and France. Its six separate episodes lead the player characters into a haunting adventure connected to the Death Angel Chagidiel and the Archon Binah, and their servants. Taking place in 1991 and set in a recently reunified Germany, the journey will lead the player characters into a Soviet Union on the brink of collapse, to unlock the mystery of what actually happened in Leningrad during World War 2. During the campaign, they will be taken to a world of dark dreams, and venture into the depths of Inferno, trying to save themselves.

The Black Madonna is written for KULT: Divinity Lost and has been updated with a completely new chapter describing the world of 1991 and new rules for creating characters connected to the setting and story.

Z-LAND: The Survival Horror RPG
Core Rulebook
By Stormforge Productions

Z-LAND starts off in our world, in our present day when all hell breaks loose and 1 in 10 people turn into zombies in their sleep. It's all downhill from there as the world is ravaged by the undead hordes it could never prepare for. It's every man for himself in a world where anyone could turn into one of the undead at any moment. The world is gone, and now we just have to survive.

The story picks up in the second time-frame of Z-LAND: the dead world is now 15 years old and the planet will never be the same. Civilisation didn't rebuild, it just got worse. Less than 1% of humanity before the apocalypse still remains alive and uninfected, facing off against more than a billion undead screamers, biters, runners, shamblers and the unholy scourged. Those that have managed to survive this long intend to keep doing just that, but those born into this new world want to make it their own. And then there is the question of the new, hairless, smart undead they call the Unborn...

The tale concludes in Z-LAND's third time-frame: a new beginning for a new world. 175 years have passed since the apocalypse, and the world has stabilised after a fashion. The Unborn are now the rulers of the world, and us humans have divided into pockets of civilisation, each changing and adapting along a different path. Each has found its niche in this strange new land, but the evergrowing Unborn territories leave no room for us. It now becomes a question of who will kill of who quicker. It really is us or them.

Burial Rites, Death and Dying in Fantasy Settings
5th Edition Supplement
By BPB Games

Adventurers die. It’s a universal part of tabletop games that focus on combat, like Dungeons and Dragons. However, we spend so much time trying to understand how an adventurer lives without ever considering how they would like to die. Some groups leave the bodies of their allies in dungeons and others simply toss them in a pine box, stick it in a hole, and forget about it.

But if we spend so much time fleshing out the racial and regional cultures of our fantasy worlds, why are we so ready to say that they all have the same traditions when it comes to death, passing, and burial? Burial Rites seeks to present an alternative to the simple pine box.

Burial rituals are highly influenced by the cultures they come from which are in turn influenced by resource availability and their environment. Burial Rites will focus on the core races presented in the Player’s Handbook while also presenting several generic rites that could be made to work with any culture.

Burial Rites is an 8 page document to help Dungeon Masters and players consider a new aspect of the roleplaying experience, the death of a character and how even in death they can contribute to the collaborative story of the game.

Misspent Youth
Core Rulebook
By Robert Bohl Games

Teenage rebellion in a f'd-up future!

Welcome to Misspent Youth: the dystopian sci-fi game that's all about friendship, standing up for yourself, and changing the world.

One of you is The Authority: the person, thing, idea, etc., that's turning life in the future into a big :):):):) sandwich which everyone is legally compelled to chow down on. The rest of are Youthful Offenders (YOs), teenagers who've had enough. You and the other YOs in your clique are the only ones who're going to get off their asses to do anything about the world burning down around them.

Other cool :):):):) about the game:

  • [*=center]You create the villain and the dystopia together, so it's easy to make your YO fit into the world.
[*=center]You make your group first, then your YOs, and you do it together, so that the kids fit together, and everyone knows about everyone else.
[*=center]You will always make stories with a beginning, middle, and end thanks to the game's story structure.
[*=center]The exciting and easy craps-like dice mechanic — the Struggle — eventually will make you choose between losing the day for your friends, or permanently selling out one of your idealistic convictions to win in the short term even as you bring endgame that much closer.

You want a sci-fi game? You want a game where friendship really matters? You want a game where you go around curbstomping riot-gear-suited drone-people?

This is the game for you.

Sell Out With Me
Misspent Youth Supplement
By Robert Bohl Games

Misspent Youth: Sell Out with Me is a rather awesome supplement for the Misspent Youth roleplaying game, the dystopian sci-fi game that's all about friendship, standing up for yourself, and changing the world.

I’ve gathered together some of the best writers and artists in the RPG hobby to present you with a metric :):):):)ton of cool alternative options to play the game with.

First off, this is a hoard of 17 new settings. Each includes The Authority (that :):):):):):):) who’s messing up the world), the Dystopia (the world being up-:):):):)ed), and the YOs (the meddling little "youthful offender" :):):):)ers who are the world’s only hope for freedom). Normally, it's the Authority and Dystopia generation systems in the core book that lead players through the process of creating a cool world. Here, the writers I've collected for you showcase the kinds of things you can make with those systems: we got space, we got fantasy, we got historical drama, we got uplifted animals, we got the real blooming world, and of course, it wouldn’t be an RPG supplement without your standard black and white world where you are the only ones who can bring color to it.

And if that weren’t enough, we’ve got two hacks of the game. These are complete minigames based on Misspent Youth, but with their own unique twists`. You can play out the story of a band making music for Love, or a bunch of bitter Old :):):):)s who have to drag their carcasses out of retirement to save a world gone (back) to hell.

Orders from the original Authority: Fun is mandatory. Anyone not having fun will be held for special questioning!

Book of Rooms
Bluebeard’s Bride Supplement
By Magpie Games

The Book of Rooms is the first supplement for Bluebeard’s Bride, a role playing game where you and your friends explore Bluebeard’s home as the Bride, creating your own beautifully tragic version of the classic dark fairy tale.

Behind each door of the Book of Rooms is a chamber full of everything a Groundskeeper could ever need to awe Bluebeard’s new bride, ready to use at the table. Lock yourself in and marvel at these fully illustrated rooms, each with fleshed-out threats to the Bride, mysterious objects that cajole closer inspection, and horrors that lurk in the shadows, including:

  • [*=center]The Tea Room: You are cramped on all sides by cabinets full of the most delicate hand-painted china. A very feminine, blue floral damask wallpaper covers all the walls and the floor. The air is close, suffocating, and you have trouble breathing. A iridescent blue sofa invites anyone who lays eyes on it to try its comfortable shape.
[*=center]The Kitchen: The kitchen itself is a broad stone room with an uneven floor. An ancient metal oven is next to the fireplace, which is just barely smoking, a cold stewpot suspended from a hook nearby. A rotund man in a poorly fitting white apron and chef hat dozes on a chair next to a central table. A cleaver tied to his belt scrapes over the floor, back and forth with every labored breath he takes.
[*=center]The Bathhouse: The air in the bathhouse is filled with the heady scent of perfumed oils, torrid and oppressive. Steam floods over the floor, where there is a steel drain forged to appear like lush foliage with flowers and leaves. Soft whines escape the drain, the pipes below exhaling from the heat. Your fingers just fit through the patterned drain. Straining through the slats you feel them rub against a soft, wet mass.

Bluebeard’s Bride is based on the Powered by the Apocalypse system used in Apocalypse World, Monsterhearts, Urban Shadows, and more. Bluebeard’s Bride produces adult feminine horror fiction like Crimson Peak, American Horror Story, or The Company of Wolves, making it fun for horror fans and dark fairy tale fans alike.

Night Forest is a tool that brings people together through the interplay of histories and present experiences, weaving a beautiful web. As we play we cultivate skills of listening, sharing and creating safe community.

Night Forest is played by a group of 5 or more more people, and can be played anywhere with enough room for your group to spread out and wander; such as a park, the woods, a field, or even a large parking lot.

To play, each player receives a candle, a book of matches, and a card. The game begins as each player wanders to a spot where they find themselves alone. At this time, each player lights their candle, looks at their card, and allows the word and image to evoke a memory. The memory can be real or imagined, and may change and grow as you continue to wander and move through space.

When you come into contact with another player wandering with their card, you come together to take turns sharing your memories. While each player shares, the other witnesses in silence. When the sharing is finished, players exchange cards.

The process of wandering and sharing memories is repeated, until eventually you receive a card that you’ve seen before. When this happens, you blow out our candle and become a forgotten memory. Once forgotten, you follow the memories that remain, witnessing in silence outside of their circle of light.

ElemenZ
2-4 players, ages 8+, 30+ minutes
By BadCat Games

ElemenZ is a simple to understand and relatively quick dice-rolling challenge game. Incorporating a push-your-luck style of play with 4 sets of custom dice. In each game, multiple tactical 'combo' options allow a player to drain opponents of their dice, while trying to control the wild element 'Z' and convert it to one of the four main elements of Air, Earth, Fire and Water. Each player chooses from four different alien races, Master of a single element, each with variable race powers - in a battle to become the Master Zee.
The game is actually 2-in-1. The 3-4 player challenge game and a very different 2 player tug-of-war game, as players attempt to control the flow of energy and energise the monolith with their element dice. ElemenZ is an easy game to learn but nonetheless offers much tactical depth, easily grasped by both kids and adults.

Forbidden Power
Dracula’s America Supplement
By Osprey

Since Dracula's rise to power a shadow has swept across the nation, but nowhere is it darker than in the Deep South. Throughout the plantations, swamps, and cities, rumours abound of grotesque rituals, hooded figures, and bizarre creatures. Most terrifying of all, however, are the whispers of ancient magic - unspeakable arcane rituals and occult powers that can lead those who wield them towards mystical supremacy… or reduce them to gibbering wrecks.

This new supplement for Dracula's America: Shadows of the West introduces two new factions: the corrupt cultists of the Church of Dagon and the Salem Sisterhood, occult practitioners whose history dates back to the early Colonies. New stealth rules allow for all manner of sneaky and underhanded tactics, while expanded rules for arcane powers offer glory but could cost you your sanity. Alongside these are a host of new scenarios, Hired Guns, monsters, skills, and gear to challenge or assist those who dare venture into the Deep South of Dracula's America.

Thanks once again for the round up. That is quite a list and must take some time putting together. I have written a lot for Egyptian settings over the years. It will be interesting to see how this mini-plugin-setting will do. I really like the idea of smaller settings that others can use as the setting or to add to another.

Ironsworn was released after I compiled the above. The PDF Spotlight is looking at titles over the past week and I usually compile the column on Fridays.

Next weeks will be delayed due to being at, and then travelling home from, GenCon but I'll try and remember to have a look at Ironsworn when I do :)
