The Dark War
Tiny Epic Defenders Expansion
By Gamelyn Games

Aughmoore is in ruins. The evil could not be contained and its darkness has spread to every region of the world. Shattering villages and infecting all forms of life. There has never been a more dire need for Heroes. Everyone who remains must rise up, must unite, and must risk everything to preserve what little spirit remains.

Tiny Epic Defenders The Dark War, an expansion to Tiny Epic Defenders, is the latest installment in Chronicles of Aughmoore. It introduces new Heroic characters like the Lionkin Charioteer and the Birdfolk Shadow Walker. It also introduces new Epic Foes, new Dire Enemies, and new Artifacts, but more importantly it introduces new and exciting features that keep players making difficult choices from the edge of their seats.

These new features include a Campaign Mode, with Enemy Generals, Skills that Heroes can learn, Advanced Regions and Caravans.

Caravans represent the shattered homes of villagers during this dark time and are spread across all the Regions. Players are faced with the additional challenge of rescuing these Caravans and escorting them safely to the Capital City before they are can defeat the Epic Foe.

Skills are useful abilities players can assign to their Heroes and require Experience Points to activate. Experience Points are now earned during play by making meaningful decisions that help the party reach their goals.

The Campaign Mode plays like an evolving gauntlet challenge, where players must play through the game multiple times facing Generals at the intervals instead of the regular Epic Foe. The different abilities players will have at their disposal, as well as the threats they face, are unique to each Campaign and evolve with the choices players make during each Campaign. If players can survive long enough, they will face an Epic Foe at the conclusion of the Campaign.

The Advanced Regions introduce new threats and also new abilities to aid the players in The Dark War. These new threats and abilities come in the way of 3D constructs like a giant Tree Heroes can hide in, a flying Manticore Heroes can ride, or mysterious Sandstorms! They play a big part of the evolving Campaign Mode. Each Advanced Region features a dark, harmful, side and a light, helpful, side. As player progress through the Campaign Mode, they will work to restore the dark regions to their helpful side. Making the right choices to restore these Regions and rescue the Caravans are critical to achieving victory in Campaign Mode.

Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus Ally Pack
Star Wars Imperial Assault Expansion
By Fantasy Flight Games

Before Luke Skywalker blew up the dreaded Death Star, before Princess Leia called for aid from an old war hero, before the Rebel Alliance crystalized into a force that would bring down a Galactic Empire, there was Phoenix Squadron. A band of rebels who fought against the Empire in the Lothal Sector tucked away in the outer rim. Thanks to the help of the elite Spectres, they have achieved great success.

Force users are rare in the time of the Rebellion, many have been twisted by Emperor Palpatine for his own nefarious purposes. The exception to this is the former Jedi Kanan Jarrus and his young Padawan Ezra Bridger. Because of their knowledge of the mystical energy field that binds all things, these two heroes can become valuable allies to you during your Imperial Assault campaign. Recruiting them to your side will take work, but maybe a common enemy will bring your heroes and these Force users together.

This Ally Pack contains everything you need to add these heroes to your Imperial Assault campaign and skirmish games! Daring missions, powerful command cards and beautifully sculpted figures await you in the Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus Ally Pack!

Taj Mahal
3-5 players, ages 12+, 75+ minutes
By Z-Man Games

Northwest India at the beginning of the 18th century. The rule of the Grand Moguls is waning, and the Maharishis and princes seize the opportunity to take control of the region. By influencing the prominent forces, building magnificent palaces, and ensuring a steady supply of commodities, the princes increase their power until the most successful has won.

The goal of the game is to gain the most influence points. These can be obtained by building palaces and by acquiring commodities. A palace can be built after securing the support of the Vizier, the General, the Monk, the Princess, or the Grand Mogul. Commodities are gained by seizing control of a region or by retrieving them on a space where a palace has just been built.

There are twelve turns with an auction for the region control and the support of the Vizier, General, Monk, Princess, and Grand Mogul, each represented by a different symbol. Players use cards in four colors to bid for the various prizes, and each player may only play one color in any given turn. During your turn you can either increase your bid by playing more cards or withdraw. When you do, you gain the reward for every symbol you have the majority of. You place palaces, gain region tiles, and increase your score accordingly. There are bonus points for connecting palaces over several regions on the map. After the final area on the board is auctioned, the player with the highest point total wins the game.

Spring Meadow
1-4 players, ages 10+, 15-60+ minutes
By Pegasus Spiele

The first delicate flowers herald the end of a harsh winter. The sun shines longer day by day and pushes the snow back. Lush meadows bloom, and curious marmots slowly awaken from hibernation. Finally, spring is coming into the mountains — the perfect time for a hike. Choose your route carefully, watch out for the burrows of the marmots, and pack enough snacks. Your chances to earn an edelweiss hiking pin are rather low if you sit hungry in the snow.

Spring Meadow is the grand finale of Uwe Rosenberg's puzzle trilogy following 2016's Cottage Garden and 2017's Indian Summer. The complexity of this game — the most interactive of the trilogy — is set in between those two games, and fans of the trilogy will find familiar elements combined in an innovative way.

Place your meadow tiles with 0-2 holes skillfully on your mountain board to receive extra tiles when creating or expanding groups of holes. Find your way around the burrows of the marmots because they can restrict you during tile placement. Scoring takes place depending on the players' selection of meadow tiles from a central game board. Whoever has the largest meadow during a scoring receives a hiking pin, and the first player to earn their second hiking pin during scoring wins.

New puzzle challenges are guaranteed with 172 tiles in 49 shapes.

Trudvang: great name and outstanding art. Sadly I'm over-invested in RPGs I'll never play, so I won't pick it up. :(

Am I the only one for whom Norse + Celtic feels odd? I would have thought Norse + Germanic/Saxon myself.

Heard about Trudvang here for the first time and I'm also not so much into this whole nordic/germanic and celtic mythology. But I'll be damned if those aren't the most interesting covers of RPG books I have seen in the last years! I think I'll get the Wildheart adventure and use it for inspiration to my usual campaign(s), maybe dangle the cover art in front of my players to get them into a mystical, dark mood.

I almost was willing to pick up Trudvang on the Kickstarter JUST for the art, though some of it was inappropriate the rest was absolutely amazing! Definitely the best RPG art I've ever seen. But I couldn't spend all that money on art alone, and our game groups are already too financially invested in Pathfinder to move to another expensive set of rules (which looked pretty different from Pathfinder).

I think had we been looking for a system to play when the Kickstarter was running we would have picked it up.
