Lex Arcana – An Empire Without End RPG by Quality Games

Originally published in Italy in 1993 Lex Arcana was designed by a fantastic team of authors (Dario De Toffoli, Leo Colovini, Marco Maggi and Francesco Nepitello – the latter two readers may recognise as designers of Cubicle 7’s & Sophisticated Games The One Ring RPG) who have reunited for this new edition, which is also the first time the game is available in English.
Lex Arcana is a roleplaying game whose unique setting merges history, mythology and legend. It is a world where Roman imperial legions clash with barbaric hordes on the field of battle, while ancient monsters, mystical powers and nameless cults threaten the rule of the Caesars from within.
Players take on the role of Custodes (wardens) of the Cohors Auxiliaria Arcana, imperial agents sent on missions to the most distant and dangerous corners of the Roman Empire and beyond.
We are at the end of the fifth century AD, thirteen centuries since the founding of Rome. The Empire has not fallen. In this alternative timeline, Rome has avoided its end by using its haruspices, sages and oracles, escaping the sequence of events which in actual history brought to its fall.
The Empire’s stability has allowed it to strengthen itself for decades and has not suffered any drastic changes, invasions and the breaking up of its territory. Economic growth has brought greater wealth to all the population and many peoples outside its borders are considered Roman citizens, protected by the invulnerable Pax Romana (the Roman Peace). But the Empire’s mighty and invincible legions and divinatory rituals are no longer enough to protect the Empire.
Other powers are working, hidden behind the veil of tangibility: ancient demons, dark magic, witchcraft and monsters from forgotten depths.
Fiends & Foes – Adorably Deadly Chibi Style 5e Monster Cards by Ben Nielson

There have been a number of Monster Card Decks recently but the Fiends & Foes decks from Ben Neilson stands out through his use of Chibi-style artwork. The cards, with stylised art on the front and the monster stats on the back, are available as electronic PDFs with print at cost codes through DriveThruCards.
The four core decks, each containing 40 Tarot-sized cards (with an extra 2 cards being added with every stretch goal – which also unlocks a brand new additional deck which is voted on by the backers) currently cover 210 monsters from CR0 to CR16.

Age of Myth: Ancient World Supplement for 5th Edition by Brett Peterson

The core of the Age of Myth supplement looks at brining ancient Greek themes to your 5th Edition games. The 90-page hardcover gives you new race options, such as the Authocthones (children of both gods and Gaia), Satyroi (half-human half-goat), Myrmidons (ants transformed by a god of war into human soldiers), Cynocephali (dog and jackal headed invaders of the sea and desert) as well as Centaurs and Minotaurs, as well a host of new Class Options, Magic Items, and a series of mini-adventure suitable for immediate play.
Whilst the core book explores Ancient Greece the campaign wants to bring you more information about a number of societies from the Ancient World, and is doing so through the use of Stretch goals. The first stretch goal, which has already been attained, brings information about Egypt into the book (increasing the 90-page count) with four new Races, 3 new classes, 15 extra monsters, 25 new magic items and 5 more backgrounds. Following on from Egypt will hopefully be information of Rome if the target is reached before the Kickstarter ends.
Avalon’s Solo Adventure System by Robert Hemminger

Avalon’s Solo Adventure System has been designed to allow you to play 5th Edition Dungeons & dragons by yourself. As opposed to main ‘solo’ games, Avalon isn’t about you playing a single character but more about you being able to play a party of adventurers as they seek out glory and great deeds.
For the $15 pledge you get all four books (plus stretch goals) in electronic form that gives you, along with the core 5h Edition D&D books, everything you need to play. The core PDFs are:
The Core Rule. A PDF of 24 pages, which covers all the rules you will need to run the game, as well as some option rules to make things even more fun.
The Book of Encounters. A 90-page PDF of encounters and encounter charts to make things random and fun.
The Book of Adventure. A giant 300-page PDF book of over 50 exciting adventures, which will allow your group of heroes to progress up to 3rd level or higher, and open the door to future adventures to come.
The Book of Maps. Over 30 full-color battle maps, which will allow you to create an endless series of encounter locations and places to battle evil foes.

3 New Sidequest Decks: After the TPK; Modern; & Lovecraftian by Inkwell Ideas

Inkwell Ideas have returned offering us a choice of three new Sidequest decks. These decks contain a map on one side of the card and a mini-adventure outline on the other, with a variety of encounter ideas featured to help GM’s come up with games on the go. All the decks are systemless, so can be used with any game.
Two of the deck sin this campaign move away from the fantasy genre and explore Modern ‘Criminals, Spies & Superheroes’ and ‘Lovecraftian/Paranormal’ encounter ideas. The third, After the Total Party Kill, takes on board the idea of what happens to the PCs once they’ve been killed – with ideas such as having to fight their way out of Hell, or continuing their quest in a ghost-like form in the hop they can return to their bodies.
RPG Stamps: Commemorate Deaths and Track Accomplishments by SGL, INC

Kenku Press’ RPG Stamps are a neat idea. Inspired by Goodman Games’ R.I.P stamps for Dungeon Crawl Classic this range is suitable for any fantasy game, although could also be used for other genres too, and comes as a range of six stamps to choose from.
There are two stamps of different designs, across three messages – ‘R.I.P.’, ‘You Have Survived’ and ‘Quest Complete’. Each stamp is about 5cm x 5cm (about 2’ x 2’) and comes pre-inked in a choice of colors (currently black, blue, red and pink – with other colors possibly being added during the campaign).
