Honestly, the module wasn't written for level 100 PCs, it was written much more for the lower end of the spectrum. As a straight conversion to 3.5, I'd write it as a level 20, maybe level 25 module.

Agree with the previous poster (and others with the same point). The H4 "100th level characters" was really just an eye-catching marketing tag line.

The module description made the key assumption that: no one over 29th level got any more hit dice, attacks, abilities, saves, or spells of any sort. That was a pretty ridiculous misreading of the 1st Ed. rules as written (which simply didn't address higher levels one way or the other). So as fas as the H4 text was concerned, 30th level was rules-wise identical to 100th level, which was pretty absurd.

I'm not much of a fan of this module, but I think if you were to convert it for 30th level PCs, you might have an easier time making things sync up.

Yes, yes, I know your concerns. Thank you for informing me that I am nuts, but I didn't need you to tell me that .

I already started making the PCs and went to the general thread to have people help out a bit. check it out here:

I am sure that after making four generic 100th level epic guys and pimping out one or two encounters, I will get frustrated with the lack of ENWorld support or dislike greatly the challenge and will stop this non-sense, but until then, have to see it through.

Logic Gaps

Hey all!

(assuming you are still out there?)

I've been thinking a bit about this adventure myself. However, I think a number of logic gaps appear when you try and convert it to a Level 100 adventure.

In fact none of it actually makes sense from a 100th-level perspective.

Orcus is only CR 56 as I rate him (and much much weaker by the official rules). Which basically puts him down as cannon-fodder for a party of 4-5 100th-level characters. In fact even boosting Orcus to Greater Power, may not be enough.

Basically a 100th-level party are the equivalent of powerful Lesser Gods. So I think you would need an Elder One to challenge them as the final boss.

So you end with a massive philosophical gap, which needs to be addressed first, and then worked backwards.

One other point of note is that with a 100th-level part, I wouldn't go any lower than using CR 66 opposition (maybe as low as CR 50 for some random encounters). Which basically rules out more or less everything in the Epic Level Handbook...at least everything pre-Template that is.

While you can offset this a degree by using multiple opponents at once, you don't want to rely on this all the time.
