I would suggest grabbing the starting packages from the players handbook. Each class has an example starter character.

Just assign attributes and you are pretty much good to go. For ease, just use the 15,14,13,12,10,8 array.

If you are wanting something more than that please give us some additional information on what you are looking for.

Here are some from my own set of pregens. I added a bit of example background and such just in case (the originals are just stats with a name and basic appearance details). Choose and mod as desired.

For reference, each of these pregens has gear purchased from max starting gold (based on the Player's Handbook listings). For example, the maximum a fighter's roll can give for 1st-level is 240 gp, plus the standard choice of one free starting clothes outfit; this is noted in the PHB, not the SRD, because the SRD is required to leave out character-creation details. The parenthetical number by each skill is its rank.

Also, the ability scores for these are higher than those of typical PCs/NPCs. For your convenience (cuz I'm a nice guy), I added 25-point-buy (the DMG default, roughly equivalent to the PHB's standard rolling method) versions at the bottom of the post. I just prefer more-heroic ability scores than what the standard methods produce; bards, monks, and paladins suck in 25-pb, and other characters get shoehorned into a specialty by the restrictiveness of 25-point-buy or its equivalent.

Speed and skills affected by armor, shields, or carried load have their total modified value after a slash / to factor in penalties. Near the end of each stat-sheet is a bit of possible-level-advancement notes, for ability score increases, feat choices, and potential multiclasses. Note that 50 coins weigh 1 pound, so each coin is 0.02 pounds.

Thorun is a proud and brave warrior of the Snow Lynx Tribe in the cold northern reaches, traveling in search of adventure, glorious combat, spoils, and exciting tales to bring back to his tribe. He has not yet shed his northern barbarian gear and affectations, but is eager to earn himself some new arms and armor of steel in the big cities south of his homeland. His senses and instincts are keen, his will is strong, and his actions are bold. He has a tendency to boast, taunt, insult, or annoy others, which offsets his impressive physique and good-naturedness. He loses his temper sometimes, but is usually reasonable and merciful, even if he does intimidate or smack around those who insult him.

Thorun is tall, burly, and generally imposing, in his patchwork armor of layered deerhide, bear pelts, and wolf pelts, a huge club slung over one shoulder, and a crude axe hanging from his belt. He carries a big wooden round-shield, painted in blood and woad with the visage of his tribe's feral namesake. A composite bow is strapped to his back and a big quiver hangs across his back, while two lumpy burlap sacks hang behind his shoulders, filled with supplies. Thorun's hair is shaved in a brown mohawk, his eyes are a similar shade of brown, and his skin is light from near-constant coverage against cold weather.

Baratus is a small-town priest dedicated to the sun-god Pelor, who lends him strength to beat back the monsters and undead that occasionally threatened his hometown, and healing power to save his friends and family after such attacks. Baratus has set out from home as things settled down in recent years, seeking a better understanding of the faith and of the world outside his hometown. He believes Pelor would be disappointed if he squandered the sun-god's gifts by staying there when Pelor's power isn't needed there again just yet, and he really just wants to see the world.

Baratus is kind and optimistic, but truly hates the undead, aberrations, and fiends. Against other foes he prefers diplomacy or nonlethal combat, often sparing a healing orison to stabilize fallen humanoids or animals. He's thoughtful, brave, and devout, but still acts impulsively from time to time, especially when he sees or hears about something foul or spiteful.

Baratus is a young man of average features but a friendly face, brown hair and eyes, and somewhat muscular build. He's short for a human, and occasionally mentions that his father spoke of a supposed half-elven ancestor. A simple, carved wooden sun-icon of Pelor hangs from a string around his neck. Baratus wears well-used scalemail armor passed down from earlier militiamen in the family, and carries a farily new wooden kite-shield. A hefty mace hangs from a long leather cord on his right shoulder, well-worn like his armor and stained from years of use by others. He usually rides a common brown horse, which carries his supplies in its saddlebags.

Sven, called Shady by those in his hometown, is known to deal with other thieves and smugglers, but is also known to take many kinds of job as long as there's money to be made. He's sneaky and almost unscrupulous (many think him to be, but he actually does draw the line somewhere, and isn't really vindictive or spiteful). Sven is a known burglar, but has never actually been caught. He likes to say his nickname Shady Sven is from hanging around in shadowy places all the time and preferring them to the open daylight where any crazy fellow could shoot him just because he makes good deals and sometimes folks feel swindled, though it's not his fault they took the deal..... But that's rarely even the case. He travels to avoid getting too bad of a reputation in any one town and avoid getting caught.

Shady Sven is fickle and a free spirit, who cares nothing for what others expect of him, how others say he should behave, or what others say he should do. He'll help someone one minute then demand compensation for it afterward, insisting that it's just how the world works, yet when someone else does him a favor, he hardly even considers paying them back. Sven is opportunistic, kind of greedy, a bit daring, and often sarcastic. Yet he passes himself off as friendly and helpful oftentimes, so he can learn what others are up to and demand (or take) profits later from whatever he does for someone else. He can be trusted to some extent (it's often in his own best interest to keep his word, at least until a good reason not to becomes apparent), but never trusts anyone else.

Sven has reddish-brown eyes, possibly from a bit of nonhuman blood in his ancestry, and otherwise average features. Short brown hair, a brown goatee on his chin, and a somewhat muscular build. Sven wears old, stained, and patched leather armor, with a hooded grey cloak, the hood usually down. A slender sword is sheathed at his left hip, a wooden cudgel hanging from the right side of his belt, and a blackjack tucked into the biggest of several pouches around his belt. A bedroll is bundled up and strapped to his back, under the cloak, since he often needs to sleep on the road or in alleys. Sven has numerous darts tucked away in his belt pouches, boots, pockets, under his sleeves, and in his bedroll. Even a few openly strapped to his thighs and forearms. A set of varied and high-quality thieves' tools is hidden in one of his belt pouches, and a smaller, simpler set of spares is hidden in a boot.

Lars is a young and impulsive man who likes to trick and manipulate people, just for the fun of it, using his innate talent for sorcery to help. He's a little bit crazy and a bit of a pyro, but mostly just focuses on having fun. Lars doesn't really set out to hurt anyone, but he does enjoy pranks, bad jokes, and pyrotechnics. He doesn't particularly care, though, if some aggravating or dangerous individuals and critters get blown up for interfering with him, though. And he's a bit of a compulsive liar.

Lars actually gets along well with most folks, he just doesn't care about rules or consequences, so he often magically charms folks for temporary gain without considering how it'll annoy or enrage them later. Lars has been wandering for a while, finding himself rather unwelcome in many communities after spending a few months or years in them. Just as he doesn't care about future consequences, he doesn't care about the past, so Lars doesn't talk about his past or where he came from. He also doesn't hold longstanding grudges or rivalries. He can make deals and work with others, even doing nice things once in a while, but always expects to get something out of it, even if it's only some fun, and he often forgets old deals.

He has green eyes, a spiky red hairdo, a short red mustache, freckles, and lightl skin. Lars is a bit short but also a bit paunchy, since he always finds a way to treat himself to a nice meal, and he has a bit of muscle. He's actually quite tough and energetic, without a lot of patience for sitting around. He wears colorful but functional garments for travel, with good leather boots, baggy forest-green pants, a yellow shirt, red vest, blue gloves, a broad-rimmed hat, a large cyan cloak, and a rarely-used white scarf. The vest bears many pockets, and he has a broad leather belt with further pouches hanging from it, a backpack under his cloak, and a case of bolts strapped to his right arm. A crossbow hangs under his left armpit by a long leather strap, and an old, pitted, spiked morningstar hangs from a short strap in his hand (one or the other, he keeps switching hands while he walks).

You can try this site: Home | DM Tools: No Prep Time, No Problem! or this one d20 NPC Wiki. I use them both all the time for NPCs and it could be a good place to start for pregens.
