I just thought I would double check this in case I'm reading it wrong. Warblades do not have proficiency with heavy armour. However, if you have at least 1 level in Fighter, is there penalty to the Warblade for wearing heavy armour?
I don't think that there is but I wonder if I am just not seeing it.

With mithral breastplate and Tumble as a class skill, I don't see why you'd want heavy armor proficiency, but yeah. It's fine. No different than a Cleric dipping Fighter 1, gaining Tower Shield Proficiency, and then using a Tower Shield.

I ask because a player in my game has just started taking Warblade levels for his PC. Currently his PC is a Fighter wearing Spiked Full Plate. I wanted to make sure that he could still wear the full plate and use his Warblade manoeuvres.

Personally I'm a big fan of armored psions in terms of "classes that rock with heavy armor who don't otherwise have proficiency in it." I mean dwarf in full plate with heavy steel shield and a dwarven war axe? As long as he never has to rely on touch attacks, he should be very unlikely to have his probably relatively weak fort save targeted, at least for a couple rounds.

with tumble as a class skill full plate is mostly not worth it. It's better than nothing until he can afford a mithral Breastplate tho. There are too many good maneuvers and stances that rely on or grant extra movement/maneuverability. And nobody expects the guy in shiny metal armor with a big spiked chain or other huge weapon to tumble right through their own square and stab them in the back.
If he's playing 2-h weapon to hit hard, be sure to point out the Wolverine Stance to him. So he doesen't have to waste time with tacky armor spikes.
The 9th level warblade I'm playing in an Age of Wyrms game is a lot of fun. My movement is almost as good as the party monk, and the shifter druid thats using the PHB2 shifting variant plus longstrider. Plus I can tumble extremely well so rarely provoke AoOs. He's kinda a strange WB though as he has 2 levels invested in the Major Djinni bloodline.
