elementalist abilities

Greetings and Salutations!

I am a DM stuck in the dark ages of running 2nd edition. (Please don't flamre me for clinging to the golden age - I have all the books!) Anyway, I adopt things from the later editions here and there where I like them.

So, I am prepping a game in which two different PCs are playing Specialist Wizards who are Elementalists. I told them that I would open the field of elementalists to para and quasi elements as well. Ironically, I ended up with two lightning mages.

I had previously found an online page listing dnd stats for an edition newer than 2nd, on elementalists that basically slowly turned the PC into an elemental, blending with it slowly over levels, first gaining a defense, then an immunity to the chosen element, etc. with other abilities like this.

I really liked it and even thought enough to bookmark the site. My computer crashed two days later and with this new one I can not seem to find anything like that. Any number of google searches is only pulling up the closest thing being something that gives the elementalist a power like the druid shapeshifting. I don't like that.

So...any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Your thinking of Complete Arcane Prc.

Elemental Savant page 32 of Complete Arcane.

To become it need:
Skills: Know (arcana): 8 ranks. Know (the planes): 4 ranks

Feat: Energy Substitution (acid, cold, electricity, or fire).
Able to cast at least 3 spells with the above descriptor, at least one of which must be 3rd level.

Must have made peaceful contact with an appropriate elemental outsider.

ok...thanks Starbuck. I reviewed what you suggested and it is adaptable for what I'm desiring. To be overly picky, it isn't what I saw the first time. I believe that what I did see the first time may have been based on that though, since the powers seemed similar but seemed to work differently.

A lot of those powers, since it is a prestige class and not just a specialization, have to do with feats and other things we don't have in 2nd ed. I could reverse compatible it, which is what I'll have to do with anything I find.

So if this is what I'm stuck with, thank you Starbuck, it was a big help. If not, thank you everyone for your assistance. Til next time...
