I don't think a dex-monk is that viable. And you list #2 as if you're going to get a great use out of tripping attacks. But if you're forgoing a good strength score, even with enlarge person, you're going to have a hard time winning those trip checks, and may even lose them more than half the time if you're mostly fighting other front-liners. Better get that C.Warrior feat that lets you fight on your back w/o penalty.

I've actually used a Dex based monk for a couple of years- his damage output per round- due to a good weapon & lots of successful AoOs- was nearly that of the party Barbarian. I also used a variant of him at the Dallas Gameday a few years ago- she was a major key in bringing the pain to a couple of dragons (ask der_kluge and bento).

The lack of Str for a tripping dex based monk IS a bit more problematic- which is why I usually build mine with Str as the tertiary score as opposed to Con. My philosophy- HP are ablative; Class, Dex & Wis bonuses to AC aren't, and the combat bonuses from Str being #3 stat helps reduce the likelihood that an attack will bypass that high AC and actually do damage.

I also tend to build my Dex monks with internal access to some kind of Str boost- either via magic items or by taking levels in classes like BttlSorc, Cleric, PsyWar or Kensai who can self-buff. (At +8, the Kensai one is particularly nice.)
