Good equipment for a Companion Familar

I am currently playing a gnome Wizard/Druid/Arcane Hierophant, and I'm looking for advice on useful equipment for my riding dog companion familiar. So far he's been pretty tough, but the monsters are getting bigger and hitting harder, so I think I need to beef him up.

I don't want the Tyranny of Fun to become one of PF RPG's design principles. That's 4e's province, and I'd happily leave it that way.

Barding, if you don't have it already, is priority #1.

Beyond that, anything you'd equip or cast on yourself would be useful. Dog Collar of Invisibility, anyone?

Or maybe "pet" specific items could be created- Dog Booties of Blinking? Dog Tags of Charm Monster?

Great ideas! How about something that grants them "Magic Fang" (maybe with a permanent spell, etc.) or something that grants their bark Shout or other sonic attack ability. Also, ironically, does Cat's Grace help in any way? Bull's strength? A magic dog bowl that allows the use of potions?

Not to steal the thunder away from the dog companion, but what about a weasel familiar? Any good equipment?

Such items surely shouldn't be unheard of. I mean, horseshoes of speed are a common enough item. Why wouldn't there be magic items for a PC's trusted doggie companion? In the Forgotten Realms novel Darkwalker on Moonshae, the dog Canthus is given a torque to protect him and allow him to penetrate a werewolf's hide. I don't see why you couldn't do the same and add Magic Fang or another spell. Plenty of precedence for it.

StreamOfTheSky has disabled Experience Points
MIC p. 89 has the Collar of Healing. It costs 5,000 gp and 1/day from any distance (must be on same plane), you can heal your companion/familiar 50 hp and remove fatigue or exhaustion from it as an immediate action. You're also always aware of its current hitpoints, which I guess is useful if you get separated. The companion wears it, not you, if it wasn't obvious.

Carry tags or charms that fit your pet's harness. They can be used as removable targets for long lasting area effect spells, like Silence, Light, Magic Mouth, Symbols and so forth.
