Am I missing something, or does the Fiend Folio confuse ECL and Level Adjustment?
The one in particular I am looking at is the khaasta. It has a listed LA of +3 and 3HD. Now, allegedly:
ECL = LA + HD + class levels.
However in the last paragraph it says that it's ECL is +3 and therefore a 1st level khaasta is the equivalent of a 4th level character.
So, which is wrong or am I confused? Looking at what they get (+6 natural armor, unbalanced stats, darkvision), I'm guessing that the LA really should be rather low, perhaps even 0?? Therefore the ECL is +3 (from it's hit dice), and the LA is actually +0? That may seem a bit low. However, an ECL of 6 (3 from HD, 3 from LA) seems rather high for not a whole lot beyond some nice stats.
Just wondering what anyone else thinks of this, whether I am just confused, or if there's any official word.
I haven't read it all, but at a glance it seems that this confusing of ECL and LA runs throughout much of the book.
Thanks!
