Yesterday, I was playing Ja'akkar Kruger, Shifter Paladin of the Raven Queen, a masochistic freak who trained under the Shadar-Kai of Letherna.
My paladin is designed to use temporary hit points to attract attacks from the enemy so I roleplayed him as someone who enjoys pain.
EVerytime an enemy crits me, I say the old Monty Python favourite "My nipples explode with delight !"
When I was critically hit the third time. Firelance remarked that I had no nipples left. To which I argued that Longtooth shifters are modelled after wolves and had at least six nipples.
Clearly, when a shifter uses his racial power, extra nipples burst forth from his torso. It's not in the PH2 explicitly, but it's implied. There are nipples all over that book.
EDIT: also, you could just consult the Nipples Table on the DM screen.

This question is absolutely rediculous, and should not have a place on these forums... I am appalled...
...clearly as a masochist you're more interested in the load limit of your nipples post piercing than how many you might have, which is based on your Endurance.
It depends, did you take the Improved Nipples feat? If so, it increases your nipples from 6 to 8.
I don't know if that's balanced. In 4e, I think it'd be better if you could get 1 extra nipple for one encounter per day. Maybe if you hit a milestone you'd get a 2nd extra nipple.

So how many nipples does a shifter have ?

Why would the exploding nipples be rendered useless? Can't they recharge?
