It was the encounter with the Dust Devils and Dust Devils are from MM2.
It doesn't matter what book you take monsters from when you make encounters as poorly designed as those. |

Here's there website - Good Games

"Season 3 of D&D Encounters is likely to be something pretty spectacular, not only because it will showcase the D&D Essentials Characters, but Players will be allowed to create their own Essentials Characters. Pre-generated Characters will still be included in DM kits to help new Players get quickly into the game, but it is also hoped that after a few weeks, new Players will consider making up Essentials Characters of their own. Season 3 is also going to be a long season – 20 weeks/encounters – and will showcase iconic monsters from the Essentials Monster Vault in this adventure. “Season of the Serpent” will run from September 22nd to February 11th, which was written by Chris Sims, and will be set at the Keep on the Borderlands along the Chaos Scar in the Nentir Vale." -- Neuroglyph Games, GenCon Report part 2

| I'm completely ignorant about Encounters and the organized play aspect of what Wizards is doing. My question is: Is there any way to get the adventure materials beyond joining and running it at the game store? It sounds very cool but I just don't have time to squeeze in more gaming at the local store. |

It's designed to be run in a retail environment, and is part of what makes a store a premiere store.
I had the same problem as you, my solution was to kill my home game and spend weekends with my family, and play D&D midweek at the game store. |

| I hope that the Character Builder update that's now been pushed back AGAIN will be ready in time for Season 3. |

My plan is to bring 6 copies of the essentials character sheets and roll up characters right then and there. Once the updates are out they can be converted to CB character sheets.
Speaking of which, I really hope they keep this "Essentials" format for the sheets when it's integrated into the CB. I rather like the style. |
