I hate giving out 5784 magic swords just so that 5000 of them will get tossed aside... I like to keep immersion and the fact that magic items are rare ( and none should be handled too lightly

) and should have a back story. Im glad the adventurer's vault actually has spelled out the ability to hand out magic item levels in treasure. I was toying with this idea for a while for my next campaign. But here we are ! It's so great to finally see this come to fruition.

Does AV have something in it about that which the DMG lacks?

I'm glad there's a larger variety of stuff to hand out now. I feel that is definitely something 4e is lacking compared to 3e - variety in classes, items, powers, etc.

That's supposed to be "thing" by the way not think. Did the DMG say how to level up items (not by enchanting or anything)? I wasnt sure i read that in there.

Ah, I misunderstood your post. I thought you were talking about treasure parcels per level.
