Creatures by Environment - Is there anywhere I can find this?

I'm wondering if anyone has broken down the Monster Manual creatures by environment.

My PC's were recently on a boat and I came to the realization that aside from 'pirates' my sea encounter options were almost nil for lower level at a glance.

Essentially I'm looking for something akin to this site:
Crystal Keep - D&D and d20 System

But based on 4E if such a thing exists. Thanks!

Good question, I can't answer you on that question but I have a question that can be forked to it. Is there a way to know what type of monsters to use in certain environement depending on day or night??

No to both. I'm pretty sure in 4E monsters can appear anywhere and anytime the DM would like them to appear.

I vaguely remember either the DMG or some WotC online article mention that you shouldn't be afraid to use odd monster mixes in your encounters. Looking at the sample encounters in MM1, there are already some really strange combinations.

I.e. use the monsters in whatever way makes sense to you!

Core List: Monsters - Google Docs

Scroll to the right

If you hit the "INTERACTIVE" link above the table on the left, it will take you to the... interactive version where you can sort.

hey Weem is that yours? It is cool so thanks. BTW is there anyway to widen the viewable area (I don't use G Docs) rather than have to scroll. Half my browser is just white space, a bit of a waste!

No, not mine, bit I pulled everything out and put it into my own excel sheet

---edit---

Uploaded my excel version - it's not formatted [colors, column widths, etc] at all in this state, but you can do to it as you wish obviously)...

Wow, VERY helpful link there Weem. The fact that you can manipulate the sheet makes for an excellent DM resource. Thanks!
