skill challenge

I saw in Dragon 160 p.19 a skill challenge(Level 7) and want to lower the DC checks, so they are suitable for a level 3-4 skill challenge. If I lower the checks by 2 will it be enough(or too easy), or do I have to decrease the number of successes as well (from 12 to 8-10)?
Are 12 successes before 3 failures too difficult for a level 3 challenge with the following DC checks?
DC 12: Insight, Intimidate, Streetwise, Bluff, Diplomacy
DC 17: Thievery, Stealth, Nature

Eyeballing it, I'd say you're on the money.

Thanks. The first experience with dnd was with the 4E, and I've already been promoted to dungeon master (to a party formed by 4 16 year old). It is more difficult than I thought it would be to create an interesting campaign. You have to come with new ideas all the time to keep it interesting.
