Warpriest's Challenge and Opportunity Attacks...

Here's a question from one of my players regarding Warpriest's Challenge and Opportunity Attacks...

Quote:
I've got a question about a paragon path feature and what it actually means if you've got reach:
Warpriest’s Challenge (16th level): When you hit an enemy with an at-will melee attack, you can choose to mark that enemy for the rest of the encounter. The next time that enemy shifts or attacks a creature other than you, you can make an opportunity attack against that enemy. If you mark a new enemy with this feature, any previous marks you have made with this feature end.
Does this mean that the first time the marked enemy shifts or attacks I would get an opportunity attack if the enemy was within my reach?
I've got my own thoughts on this, but I'd like your opinions, before I make a final ruling.

Opportunity attacks

Yes, if the target is within reach you could do one. An opportunity attack is always a melee attack unless you have an ability that lets you do something else. Foes leaving a square adjacent to you draw OAs normally, but this does not mean that foes within reach could not draw one in by other means.

Note that monsters generally get OAs outside of the adjacent squares only if they have threatening reach.

According to the Weapon Properties description for Reach (PHB 217):
<quote>You can still make opportunity attacks only against adjacent enemies.</quote>
So since opportunity attacks given from Warpriest's Challenge are still opportunity attacks, then they can only be made against adjacent enemies. A PC would have to somehow obtain threatening reach in order to target further than adjacent with an OA.
