Possibly, but I doubt it. My guess is they'll have guidelines for making a more capable NPC. One that will actually make up for the add to the encounter XP budget. It isn't hard to do now, but it never hurts to have some more guidelines I guess.
Maybe some basic mechanical rules for NPC morale would be OK. Not something I really think is all that critically needed, but it is an area that hasn't been addressed relative to allied NPCs.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see what does show up in DMG2.
