The problem is that none of the stuff that is made right now is stored anywhere. I spent alot of time getting art for the project and hey its all gone.

Basically the project is poorly run right now. Also people want to change basic stuff about the project all the time so you have the same debate over and over again. Ie no gods/gods etc...

I dont have that much time right now and thought that IŽd concentrate on getting some art for the project...

I see your point BM, I uinderstand but I still think Sidran hit it on the button by saying...
Quote:
everyone should ask themselves if there was one thing about the DF setting that they would change what would that be
. Everyone has things they want that is not there...such as the idea that there should be no gods. There are ways to work around the already stated history as I have attempted to do with Yogsathoth. I am just trying to add the story of Yogsathoth into Daemonforge as I see that it could create alot of interesting stories and campaigns based in Daemonforge. All in all, I wish to build it into the very depths of Daemonforges lore. There are problems but they need to be worked out and I am all ears for ideas and suggestions save for the fact that I have had little input save for Sidran. I agree with him all the way. Also, BM, you said you were collecting artwork for Daemonforge? I am an art student going to an specialized art school and I have created some works based upon the Yogsathoth story (particularily a pic of Yogsathoth and another of Jaalek). Anyways, ideas suggestions...Im all ears.

Actually I do agree with BM mostly about the poorly run DF stuff and non of the good well written stuff out and about I know that BM has been collecting and is still collecting artwork and what have you for this site and I remember early on that he was one of the main primary contributers to DF.

BM what I was saying about everyone doing a little is just this (Using me for an example) I live in a poor community, I work two jobs, and right now I am doing two jobs with a broken leg, Legal troubles, and a sick mother. Yet I devote a little bit of my time to DF every day. As little as 1-2 hours a day.

I know that this might not be what every one can do or wants to do ( Yeah I know RL is more important than the setting) but it is just what I have regimented my day to do.

I am truthfully frustrated that we haven't heard from people that are still on this project but I find them posting PRC's and House Rules elsewhere. Understandable, yes likable, no. I was not even close to being here at the start of the project. I still have issues with bits of history or small little nothings from one area or the other.

But I try to get this setting out.

I work on Monsters and only G'baal has posted to say hey that is a good Idea.

I have posted some artwork and nobody posted to say yeah that is a good start or anything (Refering to the Rough Abbaye map)

I want feedback that is why I post.

I don't truthfully care what happens with what I post after its out there other than eventually that stressful few hours of work each night is rewarded with...well...anything.

BM for instance you have posted here twice now with no feedback (Suggestions about this or that or how to work it around) And I posted everything with the No Gods rule in mind that is why you will see the used to be the God of... in the four minions above. I truthfully feal that G'baal has contributed a whole new depth to the DF. After all if the Setting is not even a part ofa Multiverse then where did the Fiends and the angels come from.

Yogsathoth answers the Question with the Seven Lands of Numer, and The Seven Gates ( One of which being the Gate of Dusk) These "Gods" of the Numer have no powers over the mortal realms, they were cut off when the First Gate that of Dusk was destroyed. The minions of those Demon Lords do still roam the lands the most powerful of which are the Fiend Lords.

G'Baal what I was saying about not documenting all of the Minions of Yogsathoth is that we should draw a line say 6 No more then we pick those six from a pool if you will of our descriptive bunch, and write them up leaving the rest to the imagination of the DM's that run in the DF. This is the style of the DF Setting that has been established with such things as the fiend lords, and the smaller fiendish minions of the fiend lords.

After all their are countless numbers of fiends that still recall dimly their Dark King Yogsathoth, and there countless Celestials who still remember the foul one known as Numadan the Destroyer.

It is to overwhelming to begin to name and stat up all of those millions upon millions of minions so pick the few and leave all else to DM descretion. That doesn't mean that you can not casually throw in a fiendish minions name here or there. It just means keep your work load down and only give stats for his first tier associates.

As for the written work need

I would have a section dedicated to Yogsathoth the being without going into much more than him as an individual
Then follow with his items, his mind slave, and the Celestial that hunts him.

Then at the end of the article give his draako's and the Celestial Hunters stats ( the last is already done completely) and side bar his Staff, and the Three stones of power.

Then in a separate piece talk of Numer as I wrote the little descriptives expand on them a little to fill them out, and then put his minions stats here with a brief bio on each of them and where they are at whether in the World above or in Numer.

My Bestiary will include most the normal daemons, and your template which I like alot. As well as a few other DF specific monsters from regions throughout the world. Perhaps new creatures specific to the Bygone erra such as the creature Ys
and the like.

That is what I want really is a Monster Idea pad somewhere so throw out DF Setting Monster Ideas.

Creatures that are neither fiend nor mortal, nor of heaven who devour the souls of all and are the bane of the Pale lord.

Just throw out the Ideas and then will select the coolest of them for the Bestiary.

Im sorry, I dont mean to take sides but its just that I understand what you are saying Sidran as I feel quite the same. I remember when I first started this...I created a thread and waited for two weeks with no reply. I was so close to quiting...then Imperialus posted (whom has never posted again I might add). It got me going...and then Sidran posted. But you were different, you kept on helping out which is what I needed, I needed feedback (which is what the forums are for I do believe). I wish to thank you for that as you have helped me bring the Yogsathoth idea so close to becoming something official in the DF setting. The Yogsathoth idea is not a new one for me...but incorporating it into a somewhat standing setting...a setting in progress is what I saught. With that officially in place, the Yogsathoth idea could be used to launch tons of other things into DF related to it...sort of like a foundation. I, personally think that the DF setting should go all out and have less limitations then it has now. With less limitations I believe it could grow even more. I see many possibilities for DF but it all depends on what happens along the way. Now, into the reply. About the number of minions being created, I personally have no problem with creating them as I am hyper-creative. I am a thinker and an artist and I live simultaniously within two worlds...the RW and the CW. That is why some small things pass me by. Hence, I search for outlets for this hyper-creativity...and building off the Yogsathoth idea opens doors. I like creating these minions nad I wonder though...if we leave things to the imaginations of the DM's then would not the being ever be used? The DM would then need to take the time to create the being if they wished to use them. Thus, the work could be done. I understand you and I will take that into mind...I will stop churning out minions soon enough (like a train slowing down). Now, as to the pieces of work to be written...a few format related questions...where and how should the pieces be written? Should they be done on a word processor and sent to Leopold? Or should they be posted here (unlikely)? Tell me that so I can begin collecting the information for this massive project and attempt to bring it to light. Now, to your Monster thread...I am happy that you liked my template (Im guessing for the Sahgurim) and I think alot of your monster ideas are neat and perhaps if you told me what you were looking for in each I could help you create them...take a little of the stress. Anyways, ideas, suggestions, answers...Im all ears.

P.S - Do you think I could at least create some of the minor minions...I mean like the Eyridan (both types) and such...basically I mean, the low level, not special beings.

G'baal monsters or Templates for monsters are always welcome though they may need changes or work to get them finished.

Anything that could be considered a minion of Yogi, and be a large group of that "named thing" as a horde of his minions is a good thing.

Individual "Tailored" Minions should be few and far between.

It is the style set by the DF crew to give most of the creative process into the hands of the DM, so creating minion after minion "Tailored" to one persons frame of mind does not necessarily help the everyday DM looking for the next cool idea to throw at his Players.

Also it is a matter of the level of the DM's game are they epic, middleground, or low. We do not want to create minions for every level of play it would take to long and remove our creative genious from the other interesting venues of the DF setting.

We give a few, and we give a number of "Daemons" in the bestiary ( I was planning on devouting a chapter to the fiends and to how they fall into the DF setting.

Anyways do not think I am saying quit just focus on a few.

As for the text write it in whatever post it here and then we will give it an edit or two fix written bugs add a few more notes here and there fix the edit again and send it to Leo.

I understand you completely Sidran...infact I spent a whole afternoon dealing with this. I am not going to quit as I cannot, I just cannot. I would like to create hordes thats all...no specific beings (except maybe for names and identities, just to get the DMs on the right track about that being). Now to the written piece of work...Ill get on that as soon as Yogsathoths stats are complete (see Yogsathoths stats thread). I shall continue posting monsters (particularily fiends as I like fiends the most above all other creatures). Anyways, any ideas or suggestions...Im all ears. People out there...this means you to.

Im gonna edit my signature to say all that, lol.

There's a number of reasons why I don't post much anymore.

1--My thing with Daemonforge has always been developing the lands where the mortal races fled too. Developing the evils and great powers beyond has never really been that much of interest to me. I'm into pretty low-magic, gritty stuff and everyone comes up with lots of powerful, crunchy foes and bits and pieces. I'm in it for the fluff. The arguments about skyship sizes annoyed me because "my" vision of Daemonforge seemed to conflict with "other peoples' ". I didn't want huge, fantastical ships. Now the artist who came up with those huge ships appears to be gone.

2--The coming and going of people. In the beginning of this project there was a group of people which included Morrus. The only ones that still occasionally post are Burned Man, Me, and Imperialus. Then it shifted and new people started posting ideas and lighting a fire again. Then some of those drifted away and new people came again. The cycle repeats. Lots of good stuff has been seemingly lost. Even stuff I wrote which I never saved.

3--The lack of feedback. I've written a ton for this project and truthfully, received little feedback (apart from Sidran). I feel that I'm wasting what creativity I have when I post it here, so lately I just can't be bothered. Sidran I enjoy reading your stuff, and I should give you and G'Baal more feedback, but I'm a tad disillusioned.

There's a lot about this setting which I still love, some I don't like, so I've basically taken what I like and added it to my own campaign (not that I get to play that very much anyway).

Greyone I actually feel the way you do on this.

Lately I have been asking this question to myself

Is this worth it or should I go somewhere else for creativity. Truthfully from your [greyones] comments in various places mostly in emails about the City of Abbaye, I garnered that you have lost at least in part interest in this setting.

I was away for a long while and we are still at where I was (almost) when I to lost my initial interest in the setting, or more correctly in the writing for the setting.

Fact is writing for you guys was my hobby that I loved but when I was not getting any feedback I got disheartened and went on to working on my own World for a while a world I have just now begun to DM, and look forward to posting its initial stuff on the Enboards in a few more months of work, play.

I sometimes pull all nighters writing for DF, or This or that Project namely my struggling work on a Detectives Handbook for D20 rules. I enjoy combined creativity, and that was why I orriginally began posting the Utali stuff, and then later the Irrasibon stuff, and now soon the Abbaye stuff.

For one this Setting screems write me write me write me.

But no one either A) listens to the screeming, or B) Rigidly tries to hold the setting into a mold that seems to be lacking something

I miss having posts from alot of the older guys that were here but are not now Such as Eversoar who I have seen elsewhere on the site, and the such. OF course Warchild who wrote Lavernum I believe, and some of the others.

Luckly I horde notes so I have most if not all of the monsters I wrote and sent into I think Draken. Me and Imp had ICQ chats on some of those monsters though they never ever appeared anywhere. ( I now enjoy writing monsters most of all and have sprung some uniquely nast beasts at my Players over the last few sessions) Including a number of Creatures that would prolly fit quite well into the context of the DF world in general.

Im sorry that all this is going on to such a promising setting. I mean, the idea is absolutely great but as you said there is not alot of action going on to get this monster off the ground. Infact, within the first two weeks of joining I began to ponder whether I should get my friend to create a website/forum to make my own free setting. I love creating things particularily of great importance. I would go back to the original ideas, the setting I made when I was in high school. It was the epic battle of good versus evil spread all across the planes and included countless gods, fiends, and celestials. I was also extremely open to new ideas for it (such as I always am) and it began to grow rapidly. New spells, powers, classes, races, monsters, NPCs, gods, temples, dungeons...you name it. It was quite fun and it was the first time I had incorporated Yogsathoth, the order, and such. It was great...it started simple with small stories, well-developed towns and histories, NPCs galore, and an endless map so to speak. I dont know...I thought it would be great to help in a setting that I thought was getting somewhere. I dont know now. I like the setting alot but I hope that it gets better sooner or later. I ssee where you two are coming from yet I have not travelled so far so to speak. Anyways...please, do not just give up and quite altogether...that would be a major loss...anyways...

Anyways, Im gonna keep on making a list of minions even if no one else replies. So, back to the list:
Shevanni - Demonesses that glide upon the wind and slay children.
Castur - The hideous demoness that is a self-proclaimed lord. She looks somewhat like a hippopotamus but xovered with warts and boils and stands on two feet. Her maw is lined with many sharp teeth and her claws are crusted with rotting flesh.
Telal - Extremely powerful but cowardly telepathic fiends.
Anhkaru - Incorporeal fiends that are like leeches that feed off the hosts life energy.
Soul bane - An extremely rare but feared type of fiend that steals the souls of the dying and uses the energy to strengthen themselves. They look like white humaniod creatures with white tattered bat wings and two horns on there head.
Anyways...I am looking for more here if youd like to give it a whirl. Most of these fiends will get stats posted later on. I need some more stuff here though so...stop in and help out.

The idea I have for Yogsathoths personal secret goal is this...Yogsathoth is an intermediate power hungry evil god. He seeks to become stronger and thus hold more power over others. What Yogsathoth wants is to be free upno the world so he can steal the divine essence of the dead or dying gods upon the world. With their power, he believes he may be able to become a greater diety and thus have more power then ever before. He also seeks to slay all the acting gods as I call them (the people acting as gods in the gods fall) and iradicate all those whom would oppose his rule. With that, he would annex the world with numer adding the world to his power. This is a very rough idea right now with little fluff so far. I just want to create a secret driving force for Yogsathoth, give him a point to want to come into the world in the first place. Anyways, this is the plan...lets change it about and then we can "Fluff it up!".

Ok, since there have been no replies about Yogis true intentions then I keep them. I am now going to post a bit of Yogis past explaining some of his history. In the times before when there still were fiendish gods in the hells amongst the ranks was Yogsathoth. At this time he was merely a Demi-god, a seer, an oracle to those of greater power. He was acknowledged as the greatest of Oracles and trusted with the lives of many a fiend. Nearing the second fiend war, Yogsathoth saw the fall of the dieties...nicluding those of the hells but this time he did not tell as he also saw that he was not to die. Yogsathoth decided that he would delude the gods as much as he could and drive the day forward when they would fall and he could steal there divine essence and take there place. In the end, it all had happened as Yogsathoth had forseen save for one part...he was attacked and weakened severely but not slain as he had seen. He was split into four powers...three remained upon the world while he was trapped in the layers of Numer. His three powers came to the world as spheres that were lost in the world until found by warriors and brought to Abbaye as a gift on their return. Yogsathoth still ived but was trapped in the layers of NUmer for without his stones return he could never cross over. With that knowledge Yogsathoth decided to gather a mass of great fiend lords and cast a dreadful spell, sealing both the seven gates of Dawn and the seven gates of Dusk. Now, all that was left was hope that someone would be foolish enough to free the remaining fiend lords and minions and eventually free Yogsathoth. Thats all for now...its preliminary still but it sounds good and links Yogsathoth to the fiend wars and the fall of the gods around him. He remained because he was not deemed a threat and he was thought to have been destroyed. Anyways, got more for me? Id love to have it. I am tying lose ends right now and soon will be writing a piece of work for DF based on the Yogsathoth idea. Got something else, suggestions...

I have an idea for another minion,

Irristfall: Irristfall was once a trusted general under the Lord of Blades. During a major raid into the land of the chained shortly after the foundation of the forge he was set upon by nearly 100 of the Chained God's minions. Though he put up a heroic struggle he was eventually brought down. Bairly alive his body was returned to the Forge where he became the first of the entombed. However the process was uncompleate and his half departed soul went mad during the transition from flesh to metal. At the moment insanity took over he made a pact with yogi and was instilled with a burning hatered towards his former master. He escaped into the mists after killing hundreds of inhabitants of the forge in an orgy of distruction and escaped into the mist. He has been wandring the Kessel ever since killing and maiming anyonehe comes across

Cool idea and he shall be added. There are so many fiends that no one could list them all in one life time. I will add him somewhere along the lines of the fiend generals more favoured fiends. He to though is not alone on the world to this moment as Guta is also alone in the world...infact, it was rumored that the building of the temple of Yogsathoth was directed by Guta after which all that had helped build the temple were slain by him and left dead within the temple itself so that no one could remember where it was save for those with the book that Draako has. Anyways, if you can, keep up the posting as I would love to have more beings known...at least in description. Thanks, keep it up.

Ok, back to tying up lose ends...this is what I need now. To all the creators of the other fiend lords: I need a few things from you to link them somehow to the history of numer. Numer is the hell of DF and so the fiend lords must have come from there. Hence, I need to know when they came from there and when they stayed on the world, why they stayed if they had a choice at all (as some where just trapped by the closing of the gates), how they are related to the other fiends of numer, and how they are related to Yogsathoth. I also need to know if they still revere Yogsathoth or that they have become so corrupted by their own power that they revere only themsleves...this could create some very interesting inter-fiend conflicts. Anyways, I need to link the other already made fiend lords to numer so...help me out. Next, Im going into a bit of fluff about the Celestron Council which was the one day council that began the opposing forces of Yogsathoth. As the gates were sealed and the fiends and celestials that were left fought to the death, two celestials escaped from this battle and headed towards the people. They had fought with the fiend gods and now that the gates had closed wondered if what they had done to defeat Yogsathoth was enough so they turned to the people and gathered a few of the most powerful of the remaining and gathered at a mountainous peak in what was known as the Celestron Council. The two celestials, Melechadar and his brother Ramiel. They warned those people at the council of what may come in a few years and told them to oppose those that would try to open the gates once again. With that, the people left and as the years rolled by, a group began to grow before them...the Order of the Foul. Thus, there war was set. Now, if you want to fluff this up even more (without changing much) please, do so. Anyways, Ill be thinking and waiting for more stuff here...particularily on the exsisting fiend lords. Thanks.
