Sorry, but a propos of the discussion of kids below... it turns out that the morning of the 15th is the ONLY time my wife and I can take our child care skills class before, you know, the baby actually arrives.]
In this wicked age, when the old deities walk the earth sullen and disrespected, law is no man's, and civilization has not yet forgotten its bloody birth... Oracles speak of treachery, the regrets of the past, and the lusts of war, but fate can be broken in the hands of any woman strong enough to dare.
[In a Wicked Age is Vincent Baker's sword & sorcery system: fast, confrontational, and lightweight. Character and setting generation are simultaneous and will be done at the table. Just bring a bloody mind and a willingness to take risks.]

Well, hopefully not in the sense that I'll show up to run it, but then no one will play - except that I won't be playing fantasy.
It's not very much like Shock: at all, actually.
The situation creation is basically: elements are drawn at random from an "Oracle" with various fantasy bits on it. Based on those, a set of explicit and implied characters is drawn up - players claim one each as a PC, and the rest become NPCs. Then everyone is linked together by making up "best interests" that set them in conflict with someone else.
It's a game featuring a Spartan warrior who goes on a bloody quest to defeat Ares... there's sex, revenge, family, and lots of brutality. And lots of fun, naturally :-D
Oh, but our 3 1/2 year old daughter will be there with us... will that be a problem for you? She's pretty good at amusing herself and we'll bring lots of stuff for her to do but I understand if you don't want me in your game, just let me know
I don't personally have a problem with it, with one caveat: the storylines that IAWA encourages tend to be heavy on the sex and violence, so I'm not sure how *you* feel about it.

Put me in the bad Mom category... she won't be paying attention to our game.
Sorry folks, I've got to cancel this - turns out there's only *one* time I can take a child care skills class before my daughter's birth, and it's the morning of the 15th. Many apologies.

You BASTARD! WE take precedence over your daughter! :-)
Oh well, I expect that you will run it again some other time... perhaps I shall have you kidnapped and force you to run for an interested (and psychotic) group. We'll let you live only if we have fun.
Seriously, quelle bummer, but it is what it is. No worries, most of us parent-types have had to cancel similar events for similar other-events before. Comes with the territory.
