How many tries do you get?

How many tries does an individual get at running an e-pub outfit before the world in general has a right to tell him "GO sit down -- you're washed up!"?

I'm asking because I'm trying to decide whether to launch a new press after having sold my interest in Seraphim Guard long ago.

How much money do you have to lose? Seriously, I don't really care how many crappy* products you put out or how many companies you start - no one is forcing me to buy them.

Cheers

*I don't know if your products are crappy or not; I don't know you at all. I'm just saying, worst-case scenario is all.

I suppose it depends on how your last venture ended. If you got out amicably and did quality work, I would think it shouldn't be an issue. If, on the other hand, you up and left without fulfilling agreed upon arrangements, that's another story. The RPG PDF industry is pretty small, relatively speaking, so reputations can mean a lot - but there's something to be said for second chances

I think E-publishers in general are not ones to throw stones, but ethics are key.

I know a little about your experience at Seraphim Guard. If you learned some lessons from your time there in regard to why investors don't get to control the proprietary property and why this needs to be made clear from the start -- then I say that you should go for it.
