Seeking three to four players for an OSRIC play by post campaign. See house rules, play guidelines, and setting information here. Respond to this thread or PM me if interested.
Hi, Steve. I'll add your name to the list of players. We'll start play when I have three or more interested parties (I'll give everybody a heads-up). I suspect that we will play either here or at Circvs Maximvs. As for posting, I think that a minimum of one post every other day is a good rule of thumb — any less frequent than that and you risk grinding the game to a halt. I'll add this to the website tonight.

Ravana the Burned is a low-caste commoner from the city of Chohas in the Cerulean Empire. He started out as a stable hand for a minor noble. He used to simply harbor jealous thoughts for his employer. However, he was caught trying to steal a jeweled pendant from his master's prize horse's fancy dress, and branded on his face for insolence. However, he fought back against the brander in such a rage that the noble decided that he should be put to a new use. Ravana has since been taken away from any access to anything nice, and trained in the art of combat to become an assassin. His superior figures that he will soon die, but may take an enemy or two along with him.
Ravana is surly but obedient. The brand on his right cheek marks him as an uncooperative. He does not have any particular strength or weakness, save for his cunning and rage.
Awesome and absolutely approved! An assassin makes a good choice for the Cerulean Empire. I'm assuming you read the bit on secret guilds and such. Steve, if you want to get rolling (no pun intended), you can post your basic character here, too.
Excellent, thanks, I've added to Ravana. All I need now are languages (I'll wait to see what other players make) and starting gold for equipment. Should I roll for first level HP?

Ah, yes, roll for HP. None of this new-fangled "max hit points"
Good news! It looks like Henricus/Henry will be joining up, too. As soon as I hear back from Steve or Anastobe, we can start playing. Also, InVino, one quick question — how did you end up with six weapon proficiencies at first level? Per OSRIC 2.0, the Assassin class is only afforded three proficiency slots at first level and one additional slot every four levels.
OK, so...
STR 11 (minor tests 2 in 6, major tests 2%)
DEX 7 (no adjustments)
CON 9 (70% resurrect, 65% sys shock)
INT 10 (2 additional languages)
WIS 9 (no adjustments)
CHA 8 (3 max henchment, -5% loyalty)
Name: Alamar
Class: Fighter
AC: 4 (Chain hauberk, small shield)
hp:3 (wonderful) Roll Lookup
starting funds: 140gp Roll Lookup
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Culture: Bhamotin (This should be good...)
Languages: Bhamoti, Cerulean, Rizeeli
Weapons: Short bow, Longsword(Specialized), hand axe, dagger (cultural weapons Broad Sword, Long Sword, Pike)
Equipment:Chain Hauberk, small shield, Longsword, short bow, 20 arrows, bedroll, backpack,
One question: Are you allowing weapon specialization from OSRIC? I doubt it'll stop this guy from dying, but it might help.

If there's one dragon, it's a solo monster.
If there's five dragons, they're standard monsters.
If there's a dozen dragons, either most of them are minions or your DM is tired of the campaign.

From the rules on your website:
Quote:
Character Culture
All human characters in the Perilous Lands hail from a specific culture in the World Between, either barbaric or civilized. If you are playing a human, choose the culture from which your character hails in the Powers & Perils Culture Book. After you have chosen your culture, examine the section near the back of the Culture Book (beginning on page 63) that details the Common Weapons of your chosen culture. Make a note of these weapons — your character will not suffer a non-proficiency penalty when wielding them.
For the Cerulean Empire, that's Scimitar, Spear, Light and Medium Bows, which I turned into the Short Bow. Should I change this?
I made a quick update to the site regarding alignment languages. To summarize, since OSRIC does not explicitly assume the use of alignment languages by PCs, you can (if you choose) substitute a cultural language for your character's alignment language. This will not count against your available bonus languages.
