GenCon Picnic Poll

POLL CLOSED - 6/4/08

Saturday - 5
Sunday - 10
Other - 0

(the 1 vote was me, and I voted on CM)

Okay, the last couple years I have helped to organize a picnic for CMers/ENWers at GenCon, and I think that it's been a pretty good time (we got some sprinkles at the end of last year's picnic and called it a bit early, but it had already been going to a good while and was almost over).

Anyway, this initial poll is to get an idea of which day works the best - Saturday or Sunday (two years ago we had it on Saturday and last year it was on Sunday). Barring some unforeseen event, I'll plan it for the day that has the most votes.

Poll incoming...EDIT: This poll is also posted at Circvs Maximvs, so if you vote on one, please don't vote on the other. Thank you...

Also, I was asked on Circvs Maximvs when during the day that the picnic takes place and here was my response:

Quote:
I usually try to get there between 9 and 10 in the morning and I stay until everyone leaves or 4ish in the afternoon (or anytime inclement weather forces us out).

People arrive and leave throughout that time. We'll have some sort of food and liquid refreshments available for those who wish to partake (sandwich meat, bread, soda, chips, condiments). We've had many generous people donate food and others donate a couple bucks to the cause. There will be a picnic table for people to sit around and socialize. I also will bring my frisbee and football (American) to toss about.
When the date is decided, I'll start a thread so that people can state their intentions to attend (so that I can get an semi-accurate headcount).

I didn't get there the year before, but I found it a nice way to unwind and just hang out after all the gaming. So based on that single experience, I'd prefer Sunday.

I'm at the booth from 2 - 4, but if it runs late on Sunday, that would be a bonus. The family and I are will be in town until Monday and the Ram (and everywhere else) ran out of food last year.

On one hand, taking away their weapons is a dead giveaway that they will need them. On the other hand, by the time conflict starts the players will already have opened the rulebooks and found the parts that deal with bare-handed combat, performing disarm moves, and using improvised weapons. Players may blunder through dialog with shocking ineptitude, forget the name of the country they are in, or get confused about which side they are on, but once it comes time to roll for initiative they all turn into Sun Tzu. - Shamus Young DM of the Rings

Well, this poll has Sunday leading 7 - 4 and the CM poll has Sunday leading 13-2 (I put my hat in for Sunday on CM, since it looks to be the odds-on favorite - I chose the neutral option here, just so that I would have to keep clicking the link to see the poll results).

Currently, Sunday has a 20-6 25-7 lead. If anyone really wants a Saturday picnic, you better vote.

I'll probably have a Moderator close this on June 1st (I don't know why I didn't set the poll to close then...I wasn't thinking).

I'm closing this poll. Sunday wins. If a mod would be so kind as to shut this one down, I'd appreciate it.
