It allows you to search the
messageboards, send and receive private messages, give yourself a
custom usertitle, turn ads on or off, create a custom style for your
profile, get a nifty badge under your username, and gives you a special
warm glowy feeling! Oh, and it gets rid of this annoying message, too!
The mongrelman will enter at 40N0E with a 5-foot step. He will load his sling (if not loaded before entering the arena), and fire at the rat. If not allowed to enter the arena with a 5-foot step, the mongrelman will enter at 20N0E, with the same instructions as above. The sling has a range increment of 50 feet.
The mongrelman can load and ready whichever weapon he has before entering the arena, and the 5 foot step is legal although not really necessary in this case.
He rolls a 14-2 (for long range) = 12. The sling bullet drops in front of the rat and the rat is now officially ticked off.
Round 2:
The rat charges SW 30 feet. Its position is now 40N70E.
The rat charges 10 feet into the mongrelman's square and tries to bite him.
The roll is a 19+2 for charging = 21. The rat hits and does 1 point of damage. The mongrelman has 5 hp left.
The rat enters the hall of fame!

The mongrelman slings away. The rat would have dodged the bullet again, but the momentum of the charge temporarily freezes it! The sling bullet hits! (Rolled a 13).

A tiny monstrous tarantula runs 115 feet into the mongrelman's square.
The position is 45N5E.
The tarantula takes a 5 foot step into the mongrelman's square and attacks.
Hits! (Rolled a 14) The mongrelman takes a point of damage and has 4 hp left.
The mongrelman succumbs to the spider's poison! (Rolled a 1) He takes a point of damage to Strength and has 9 Str left. All future attacks are at -1 to hit and damage.
The beetle is impressed by the mongrelman's language ability, but decides to eat him anyway. It hits! (Rolled a 16). 4 points of damage. The mongrelman is at 0 hp and is disabled!
Junior moves into the fire beetle's square (55N5E) and attempts to club it once, if Junior does not get bitten in half first. Does Junior's knowledge (nature) give it any information about the beetle?
The myconid knows that the beetle is a vermin (the myconid is familiar with all of the traits associated with vermin). It also knows that it can cut out the beetle's glands and use them as a light source. If Junior can use that second piece of knowledge to its advantage in the battle, it will get special mention in the hall of fame - the McGyver award.
