Actually we are fighting in position 60N25E, because the southwest corner of the square is the point of reference, which is behind the tick. Small nitpick, irrelevant to the action.
Hits! (Rolled 19) The tick attaches itself amongst the penguin's feathers.
Critters with zero reach don't get AoO's against each other, so the tick's attack was a standard action. It can do the blood drain next round as a full round action or it can persuade the penguin to join the forces of LE right away as a free action. The penguin needs to make a DC 15 Will save to resist the tick. Otherwise the penguin is still hungry and will try to peck Super Tick out of its feathers.
No AoO...right...Opus never left a threatened square (the tick is obviously disoriented in a such a large open space).
So - let's go with the Free Action convincing thing, in the hope of avoiding a no DEX-to-AC peck.
At the Tick's bidding, Penguin-o Bull Rushes the scorpion. The Big Tick readies an action to attack the scorpion after the Penguin enters the scorpion's square.* (I'm hoping the penguin has a Speed of at least 10)
The soul tick jumps off the penguin and attacks the scorpion. Hits! (Rolled 23) The tick attaches itself underneath the scorpion's exoskeleton.
Meanwhile, the penguin manhandles the scorpion into backing up 5 feet.
(The roll was 12-8 for size = 4 for the penguin vs. 7-8 for size + 4 for stable = 3 for the scorpion)
The scorpion and the tick are at position 60N45E. Does the penguin want to join them in that square and does the tick want to persuade the scorpion to join LE?
The penguin will try to crunch the scorpion. If that doesn't finish it off, the tick will try again to the convince the scorpion to come to the darkside, and if it fails, make a normal bite attack.
The penguin enters the scorpion's square and pecks at it. Misses wildly! (Rolled 1)
The scorpion still does not respond to the tick, so the tick sucks a little blood. The scorpion takes 1 point of Con damage, which leaves it with 3 hp.
Round 6:
The scorpion claws at the tick once again. Hits! (Rolled 18) The tick takes 1 point of damage and has 0 hp left. The tick is disabled!
The scorpion holds on to the tick with its claw!
(Rolls are 9 + 0 Dex - 8 size = 1 for the scorpion vs. 5 - 5 Str - 16 size = -16 for the tick)
The scorpion continues its attack against the tick while grappling.
It hits with its other claw! (Rolled natural 20, then 5 - 4 for grappling = 1 for the crit threat)
The tick takes another point of damage. It is at -1 hp and is dying!
The scorpion misses the tick with its sting. (Roll is 7 - 4 for grappling = 3)
The tick takes no action and is defeated! It is teleported away from the scorpion's claw.
Next up for LE: A mind leech! (Fiend Folio) The penguin still fights for LE as well.
The mind leech is not familiar with scorpions and their abilities, other than what it has observed in the arena. It also does not know why the penguin is fighting on its side.
The penguin hits! (Rolled 15) The scorpion takes 1 point of damage and has 2 hp left.
Round 7:
The scorpion tries to tear the penguin into tasty morsels.
The first claw misses (rolled 8), but the second claw slams into the penguin's neck! (Rolled natural 20, 14 crit roll) The penguin takes 1 point of damage and has 1 hp left.
The penguin misses! (Rolled 2) Doesn't look good for LE!
Round 8:
The scorpion tries again. It misses with first claw (rolled 4), but hits with the second (Rolled 19). 1 point of damage. The penguin has 0 hp and is disabled!
