Plans for me Necro.....

Just as Nik has started a thread concerning his plans for the future and also for non-core requests, I thought I'd do one for myself. It's probably a good idea to have one for each of us.

Russ just say yay or nay, or put a bribe amount after each request.

Ok 1 feat request coming up. It has a caster requirement of 7th so plenty of time for you to mull it over before you say no........

COMPLETE ARCANE, pg 75.

BLACK LORE OF MOIL [metamagic]

Your study of the sinister knowledge and spellcasting techniques of the long-dead Nightlords of Moil makes your necromany spells especially potent.

Prerequisites: Spell Focus (necromancy), caster level 7th.

Benefit: Any necromancy spell you cast can be cast instead as a Moilian spell, dealing an extra 1d6 points of negative energy damage +1d6 per two spell levels, (+1d6 for 1st level spells, +2d6 for 2nd or 3rd level spells, and so on).

If the spell normally allows a saving throw, the target takes half the negative energy damage on a successful save, regardless of the outcome of the save on the spell's normal effect.

In addition to its spells normal components, a Moilian spell requires the creation and expenditure of a Moilian rune-bone, a small human bone, scribed with carefully prepared arcane markings.

Only a character trained in the Black Lore of Moil knows the secrets of creating a runebone, which takes 1 hour to craft and requires special inks and powders costing 25gp per die of negative energy damage to be generated,

While the maximum negative energy damage dealt by a Moilian spell is based on the spell's level, the actual damage is limited by the runebone. For example, if a sorcerer casts Finger of Death, (a 7th level spell, so normally +4d6), with a 75gp, (3d6), rune-bone, the spell deals only 3d6 points of additional negative energy damage.

A Moilian spell uses a spell slot of the spell's normal level.

It's not that bad man. It takes gold and a whole hour to create just one rune-bone dude. There had better be some decent spells in that book you've got for me, grrrrr!

When you've made the bone, is it used up when you cast the spell? Or is it made and kept forever?

Creation and expenditure

So yes it gets used up.

Ah, I didn't spot the expenditure part. That does make it a lot more reasonable. It just looked like an uber-sneak attack for wizards!

So I take it that you'll consider it then?

There are others out there that I like the look of also which really give a necro flavour; I'll post 'em some point later.

Cheers dude.

Complete Mage is out.....

Saw a couple of nice things mentioned on the boards; must get this book.

There was one feat I liked the idea of which made you even more specialised as a mage. I think you had to give up another school of magic and one slot/spell level however gained 2 slots/spell level of your chosen school.

They also did the PrC's based on specialist mages which looked really interesting.

Must get this book.....
