A slender, clearly fae-blooded figure effortlessly glides into the center of the arena. A large, wide green hat festooned with a golden feather wavers slightly in the breezee of his flight, threatening to take off on its own. His voice is clear, magically amplified and carrying an undertone of self-amusement.
"Creatures of curiousity and celebration, welcome to the inaugural fight of this Exhibition Arena. We have for you a classic fight card: GOOD VERSUS EVIL!". He pauses for a moment to let the assembled masses trail their cheers to a dull roar. "Each side has nine august combatants, which shall enter this arena in the order that their General has chose for them in advance. No mere foot-soldiers, each of these are powers in their own right. Further for your anticpation, amusement, and bet planning you will be able to see not only the active warriors, but the next creature awaiting its turn for glory and victory."
And now, in the greatest of all Neutral traditions, "Let's see you and him fight!"

OOC: Gansk and Infinity, please email, PM, or spoiler post your ordering of combatants, as well as what the first combatant will do with their single prep-round of buffs. (Email at johndunk at gmail)
The illusionary screens blaze to light upon the east and west walls.
"Fighting for Eeeeevil, weighing in at 1.5 tons and measuring over 12 feet long, straight from the Jerthak Desert on the 298th plane of the Abyss, we have the Abyssal Greater Basilisk ..... Stonemaker!"
"Fighting for Good, weighing in at 800 pounds and measuring 15 feet long, recently returning from the Annual Conference on the Cutting of Gems and Evil Hides held in Celestia the Juvenile Gold Dragon ... Jin Xing."
"On your marks, get set... FIGHT!"
Stonemaker has initiative, and thus can opt to move first or force Jin Xing to move first.
Jin Xing's skills and feats
Spoiler:
Feats (6) for Xin Jing: Power Attack, Flyby Attack, Hover, Wingover, Weapon Focus (bite), Weapon Focus (claws)
Skills for Xin Jing: 20 Ranks in Listen, Search, Spot, Concentration, Diplomacy, Escape Artist, Intimidate, Knowledge (Geography), Sense Motive, and Use Magic Device

Is it possible to ready an action to teleport next to the gold dragon, wherever it happens to appear? If so, then stonemaker will do that. I realize he won't get to take his attack, but he'll have an opportunity to take an AoO and it might interrupt Jin Xing's action. Otherwise, Stonemaker will just let the dragon go first.
For now, the next combatant will be the ice devil. I love the names you come up with, so I'll just let you do that.
Note that the dragon also gets spells as a third level sorceror. I suggest that you change Jin Xing to the sample dragon in the Draconomicon for less headaches on your part and the ability to plan ahead on our part.
Abyssal Greater Basilisk! You evil scum!
Sorry for the holdup, but I would like to resolve the rules issue with the dragons before we begin.
Stonemaker's turn is up, as Jin soars thru the sky
I2K
Spoiler:
Jin has bypassed the useful delay condition by being at altitude.
Stonemaker fails his "common knowledge" check, and is pretty clueless what the flying scaly winged thing is.
Gansk
Spoiler:
Maneeyac is very knowledgeable about Architecture and engineering, but unfortunately can't place basilisks (failed "common knowledge" roll").
However, Jin passed his "common knowledge" check, and is aware that basilisks can turn creatures into stone by their gaze.
Stonemaker was readying to teleport in. He didn't delay. As soon as Jin Xing entered, Stonemaker should teleport in just next to him (possibly in front, but I wasn't specific). Jin Xing, already in the middle of a move action, could continue it or not.
As Jin Xing enters the arena, just starting to get into the air, Stonemaker suddenly appears in front of him.
OOC: Readied action can interrupt, so I'll say that Stonemaker can't "leap" until Jin Xing is fully in the arena. This puts Stonemaker at 55n10e, directly in front of Jin who is then at 55n0e5z. Jin can rise over Stonemaker and complete the move as written, but will provoke an AoO, or stop immediately (stall to ground) and take a standard action in reply to the interrupt. Make sense, oh veteran arena GMs? (I knew I'd learn more by GMing this).
Jin will continue his move as planned, but close his eyes immediately in response to the filthy lizard's appearance. He will then use up more of his fly speed to attain the same altitude with his eyes closed.
Round 1:
Stonemaker gets a good chomp on Jin's flank as he flies thru, doing 20 pts of damage.
Jin doesn't need to make a save, since the SRD specifies "Each character within range of a gaze attack must attempt a saving throw ... each round at the beginning of his turn." And Jin couldn't see Stonemaker at the beginning of his turn. (Which is good for Jin, since before I double-checked my rules the dragon was a pile of artistic stone.)
Jin ends his turn at 55N30E40Z, eyes closed and spell cast, with 158 hp.
OOC: Wow, what an extraordinarily complicated first round! Good point about the gaze attack, but note that Jin now has hampered movement and moves at half speed (or 3/4 if he has blind fight). Unless he's hovering or has Good maneuverability, he has to fly half his movement or plummet. So, by definition he can't climb to any altitude (or a little with blind-fight).
The spectators and Maneeyac can see that the illusion-screen now projects the image of Evil's next combatant. The insect-like ice devil, covered with bluish-white icy rime, stands about 12 feet tall and weighs 700 pounds according to the scrolling statistics. Freezik awaits his turn to torture and destroy good.
Gansk
Spoiler:
Maneeyac is not familiar with ice devils.
I2K
Spoiler:
Freezik has knowledge of:
* Architecture and engineering (buildings, aqueducts, bridges, fortifications)
* Local (legends, personalities, inhabitants, laws, customs, traditions, humanoids) of the icy kingdom he lived in in life.
* Nature (animals, fey, giants, monstrous humanoids, plants, seasons and cycles, weather, vermin)
So he's got a good chance to recognize many creatures, but sadly not outsiders or dragons.
