Men & Women Relations in Geek Speak

Amanda found the following on a blog somewhere. She thought it was funny and asked that I share it here, as we have so many computer people who read this board.

The relationship between Men and Women needs to be explained to the Geeks. Too many of my friends have wondered "Why is my relationship not as easily managed as my computer?" So that prompted me to spout off some random junnk that I explained to a special someone. And here I shall explain it in mostly Geek speak.

Men are desktops or Laptops(local Clients), it doesn't matter which one (usually) but the point it is they are in a Domain. Now within this domain there are many Servers(women). Now when a client is assigned a server a unusual relationship ensues. As I have noticed the Server immediatly demands the specifics of the machine, MAC addy, IP addy, processor speed, its Cache, and its name. Once it decides that you are worth keeping it sets up a series of updates that will added to the client's daily routine. So these changes are forced from the server to the client and the client will change or it will be dropped from the domain.

Now normally the client will send up to the server small additions/suggestions to help efficiency for the server/client relationship. Over time the client sends these suggestions to the server and eventually the server will accept and impliment the client feedback.

And in this case the client would not complain when the server decides to randomly go down.

Yeesh! Who wrote this? You should cite it so that people don't attribute the sloppy writing to you!

Amanda found it somewhere and thought it quite funny. I don't quite get all the terminology, so the humor is a bit lost on me, but she thought some of us might enjoy it.

Yeah. I am with you. Joke? Whu--? Besides, I really get tired of cliches about how men and women are supposed to interact, especially when the cliches are celebrated and then acted out in reality. I find such things to be offensive!

I like the part about the server going down.

Thanks for sharing it!
