Gen Con 2009

Registration is opening this weekend.

I'm interested in doing True Dungeon but am not interested enough to sit online for hours trying to register.

So, if anyone is interested in registering, I'm interested in attending. Right now, I'm wide open in terms of time so feel free to choose a time at will.

Any takers?

I would love to True Dungeon. I woulda done it last year with you guys, but I had to GM one of my games. No games this year, so I am down.

But I'm likely to be tied up with family stuff this weekend, alas, so I cannot wait by the Web site to register.

They've revised registration so maybe the servers will handle it better. If there's no other takers, I might try to get in and register but if the servers are busy, I'll bag it.

I'm checking with Josh to see if he's interested again this year. Mark/Vince -- if you plan on going you might really enjoy this . . .

True Dungeon - Real Dungeon. Real Props. Real Cool.

I'll handle it if you guys want me to. Was anyone able to find the link to the download catalog on their new website? It confuzors me.

Anyways, let me know how many TD tickets we need before Sunday. I can just go ahead and get an entire 8-man slot. Selling the extras will be super easy. Thoughts?

I'm in for whenever and if we can get Saturday or Sunday, the boy would love to go too.

Bob, find out about Josh (or anyone else) and post here or call me.

Bah! My kid is bigger than I am (height, not width.) So I guess I would be in for anytime before Saturday/Sunday.

Did you get a link to the event catalog?
This should be it

Woo!

We're set my buddies!

Tickets
Game Code Title Game System Start Time Duration Cost
TDA0905318 With Smoak Comes Fire' sponsored by Wizards of the Coast
True Dungeon 08/15/2009 10:36:00 AM 2 $38.00
True Dungeon 08/15/2009 10:36:00 AM 2 $38.00
True Dungeon 08/15/2009 10:36:00 AM 2 $38.00
True Dungeon 08/15/2009 10:36:00 AM 2 $38.00
True Dungeon 08/15/2009 10:36:00 AM 2 $38.00

Schedule all of your events around that time. Plan to be there around 10ish to get prepared (tokens ready, etc, get choice of characters before the other 3 players, etc. =) ). That covers me, Bob, Josh, John, and Chris.

You guys can wait to pay me back at GenCon with cash if you'd like. It'll give me some spending money.

Well, that was incredibly easy this year. The system was slow, but it kept on working.

Here's my GenCon 2009 schedule:

Ticket to Ride Tournament - 1910 Qualifier	BGM0900938	8/13/2009 10:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Mega Qualifier	BGM0900943	8/13/2009 12:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Marklin Qualifier	BGM0900933	8/13/2009 15:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Switzerland or Nordic Qualifier	BGM0900950	8/13/2009 18:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Europe Qualifier	BGM0900927	8/13/2009 20:00
Puerto Rico Tournament	BGM0902742	8/14/2009 8:00
Saint Petersburg Tournament	BGM0902759	8/14/2009 10:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - 1910 Qualifier	BGM0900941	8/14/2009 14:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Marklin Qualifier	BGM0900935	8/14/2009 16:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Mega Qualifier	BGM0900946	8/14/2009 16:00
3D Robo Rally Qualifier	BGM0903925	8/14/2009 18:00
RoboRally Tournament	BGM0902756	8/14/2009 21:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Europe Qualifier	BGM0900930	8/15/2009 8:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Mega Qualifier	BGM0900947	8/15/2009 8:00
With Smoak Comes Fire' sponsored by Wizards of the Coast	TDA0905318	8/15/2009 10:36
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Marklin Qualifier	BGM0900937	8/15/2009 14:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Mega Qualifier	BGM0900948	8/15/2009 14:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - US Qualifier	BGM0900925	8/15/2009 16:00
Ticket to Ride Tournament - Switzerland or Nordic Qualifier	BGM0900953	8/15/2009 16:00
Ticket to Ride Single Elimination Tournament - Finals	BGM0900957	8/16/2009 8:00
Plus there's the finals for the tournaments I'm in on Saturday:

Puerto Rico Semis at 5pm (2 hours)
Puerto Rico Finals at 7pm (2 hours)
Roborally Finals at 5pm (4 hours)
3D Robo Rally Finals at 6pm (2 hours)
Ticket to Ride Semis at 9pm (1 hour)
Ticket to Ride National Championship Finals at 10pm (however long it takes )

So, depending on how I do, I may have some tough decisions to make on Saturday evening.

I'm missing out on Powergrid this year because I forgot about it when I registered us for True Dungeon. Oh well, TD is much more fun, 'specially with friends...

Homicide 101 (Bureau 13) Thursday 9 a.m.

GM: Freedom isn't Free (Mutants & Masterminds) Thursday 3 p.m.

Devils in the Details (Hunter: The Vigil) Friday 10 a.m.

GM: Freedom isn't Free (Mutants & Masterminds) Thursday 3 p.m.

Champions Offline! (Champions) Saturday 4 p.m.

Spies, Lies, Fire in the Skies (Star Wars RPG) Sunday 8 a.m.

I just submitted the two M&M games I hope to run, so I don't know if those will actually come to pass or not. If not, I think I will pick up a handful of generics and just try the first game I come across.

What if the first game you come across is a Barbie (tm) RPG or something like that??

Hey Grimhelm! Gimme another call. I'm gonna be busy bowlin' tonite so I won't be available tonite, but call me when you're free and hopefully I won't be too busy to talk for a bit.

Well, clearly it would depend on whether it was the D20 version of Barbie & Ken RPG or AB&K 2e. I always thought there were too many classes in AB&K 2e and it really got away from the core of the game system.

Plus they had all those extra Ability Scores. Everyone knows that the real B&K only uses Charisma. And there is no base attack bonus, 'cause GI Joe is always kicking Ken's AC.

On a serious note, I signed up for a Bureau 13 game, not realizing that the game hasn't been in print in like 17 years. I think they were coming out with a D20 version, but I believe that was PDF only.

I just got an e-mail tonight that my M&M events for Gen Con have been "accepted for consideration." So, no times or tables yet, but it looks like we are moving in the right direction. I asked for 3-7 p.m. slots on Thursday and Friday, but that isn't set in stone.

I wrote my Gen Con preview story for today's paper, which was mostly a sidebar for a story about people playing more games 'cause the economy stinks. Here's a link to the story:
