The Monster Manual 2 Cover is up on Amazon

Kudos to Sigma7 on RPGnet. And it's looking good.

OK Monster Manual 3 better have Grazz't on the cover. Forget the ugly ones for a moment.

Tentacle-Baboons have your number and they are not happy with what you did to Orcus.

So, who plans on buying it? I was initially thinking, "Why would anyone get that? Monsters can be reskinned..." But then I realized that I would like a second MM of baddies to give me more things to reskin. New monsters. Not higher level kobolds or something. I think if the book comes through w/ that I might purchase it.

How does the ENWorld feel?

You can never have enough monsters.

I'm a supplement whore--I have to be, for my job, but I would be even if I didn't--but even if there came a day where I cut drastically down on my D&D books, I would still likely get every major monster book to hit shelves.

While Mouseferatu is correct in theory, I might stop after MM2.

On the other hand, basing each MM around a major baddie or two is a nice move. MM1 has Orcus and a bunch of undead, Yuan-Ti and the Zehir cult, and a bunch of regular cast because they have to be in. If MM2 has Demogorgon and his minions, the cult of some evil god, and more supporting cast (clay golems durnit), and future books also have a theme, that's going to sell more than "Yet another MM full of wacky monsters".

On the prehensile tail, I don't fancy buying 30$ books just for ten pages of demon cult info, even if it's awesome.

I plan on buying all 3 corebooks each year. So I'll be getting the MM (I wonder what Races they will have in the back).

I wonder what level demogorgon will be.

Not that it probably matters as long as demigod and orb implements are legit...

I love monster books, so that's probably a must. But I'm not too keen on the cover - WotC art direction really loves this overly colourful, O'Connor-inspired style.

I was much more impressed with nJoo's Demogorgon for Paizo (make sure to click on the picture). Or WAR's take on it. And I'm all for getting Komarck's work on the covers.

Cheers, LT.

I'm so sick of kobolds, goblins, gnolls, and other low level varmits that I'll pick this one up almost sight unseen.

I doubt it.

I suspect part of it will be collecting the "new" monsters like the duegar and norker from the various adventurers.

Agreed. Given what's in the first DMG, I don't see how further ones will be of much value.

Anyone know what they plan on including in future DMGs to get the page count up?

Great cover- though I wish Demogorgon were a bit more...errr..nasty- darker in color, matted fur, slimey, etc.

My bet is Yeenoghu for the cover of MM3

I'll pick this up if it has alot of the missing classics, a good spread (level wise), and not too much silliness.

I dont really mind the art of 4e, I actually tend to like most of it. However, WAR just is amazing. I just love his style! I know it doesnt really fit the style WoTC has choosen for 4e, but commission that man for some 4e art please!

On subject, I will probably pick up the new MM, as has been stated, more monsters is good. Im not very good at reskinning, so I like to have a large pool to draw from.

Looks more RIFTS or Gamma World than D&D. But still cool. ;-)

IMHO, however, this is still one of the all-time coolest covers for any fantasy RPG. It took my breath away when I first saw it as a kid:
