Silverblade The Ench Hobgoblin Soldier (Lvl 3)
I've had magical firearms in my D&D games for about 20 years
powered by Telekinesis and similar spells, they fire bolts of steel-tipped copper or bronze size of a big man's thumb (so, they do a lot of damage).
I had an idea for a prestige class in 3.5 ed for folk hwo specialized with 'em but didn't write it out, just the ideas.

What I liked about FFXII's gun naming convention was that they were named after the brightest stars in various constellations.

So you'd have guns like the Aldebaran, the Fomalhaut, the Achernar, etc.

Very evocative an unusual naming convention, and linking them to "bright stars" evokes the idea of a bullet hole, or a small pierce of some sort.

FFZ, of course, shares this to a certain degree. Guns are one of the most accurate weapons in the game, though they don't pack a very powerful physical punch most of the time, in comparison to other weapons.

This Page has a lot of good names! (do a find for "alpha" to hit a lot of the best ones)

No, we can't, since you're not telling us what edition you're playing, and even if we did suggest something, your DM would have to allow it.

There was a show I never saw on network televsion, but found on cable a couple years ago, Dead Man's Gun ( "Dead Man's Gun" (1997) )

It was a revolver, forged in hell and used by various gunslingers and others in the Wild West. It tended to bring the owner good luck, in the form of shooting better, up until at some point they were ultimately undone, though I can't remember if it was the gun not functioning when needed, I think usually a foil tricked them or shot them when the weren't looking. But you knew it was the gun doing it all anyway.

What seems to be lacking are ideas for, for want of a better term, "magic guns". Perhaps this is a lack of real-world analogues. There is no firearm equivalent to Excalibur, for example. The nearest you could get with iconic firearms tend to focus more on the user - Patton's pearl-handled revolver, a six-shooter belonging to Billy the Kid, Dirty Harry's Magnum .45. Others are sort of iconic in a generic way, like the Tommy Gun used by all 1920s gangsters (in Hollywood if not real life), or the Winchester rifle.

But that doesn't mean they couldn't be incorporated into a game that fully embraced firearms and magic. A "magic bullet" blessed to kill a single enemy, for instance, or a rifle with accuracy over an incredible distance. A pair of duelling pistols that belonged to a great swashbuckling hero that now have some mystic powers, even just applying the standard magic weapon abilities to firearms - a Thundering Blunderbus ("Roaring Meg") for example.

Anyone done any such thing in their games? Or come across any supplements that feature such an idea?
Its an idea that goes back almost to the dawn of D&D, in the form of Don Kaye's PC, Murlynd, in Gary Gygax's original Greyhawk campaign.

Murlynd - Ghwiki

As I recall, his "hog legs" either fired Magic Missiles or never needed reloading...

But making magic firearms is as easy as making any other magical weapon in the game. Just figure out what effects you want the things to have- on top of whatever ruleset you use to actually stat-out the mechanics of gunpowder weapons- and go. An Orc-Bane Derringer, for instance, a .50Cal Brilliant Energy Rifle or a Shotgun of Disruption.

You could even use wand/staff/rod rules to create even more bizzare weapons, like a Six-Shooter of Wonder- the effect of each shot from its muzzle generates a different effect...

Then there's the magic items that would pop-up around such weapons, like an Everfull Bandolier, or the Efficient Holster.

And if you want to look at fiction for inspiration, check out Harry Turtledove's Darkness series of novels.

Not exactly magical, but...

"Six men came to kill me one time. The best of 'em carried this. It's a Callahan full-bore auto-lock. Customized trigger. Double cartridge thorough gauge. It is my very favorite gun... I call it Vera."
