You are right, this would be a pain in the butt.

A State also has limited power in dealing with a retailer that has no physical presence in the State. The States therefore require the consumers to collect the tax on themselves. Sorry for being so harsh. Must have too much stress this week or something.
No worries!

It's funny, though. I have heard many stories of people going from Cali to Nevada to buy an RV, since they don't pay sales tax (and sales tax on a 100K item is nasty). Now, that is something that I HAVE heard people brag about.

Either way, the amazon deal is very good. Even the savings on items like paper towels and such is great. I have to take Prilosec (an OTC reflux med), and with Amazon Prime, and buying the item as an amazon subscription, it makes the price about 10 less for a pack of 42. That alone is over $100 per year, paying for the Amazon Prime all by itself.

That's definately the way to make that work...buying lots of stuff or buying frequently.

Unfortunately I don't order enough throughout the year to justify the expense.

And just to clarify, I don't expect extra special treatment or 2-day shipping for free, I just expect to get the level of service I do pay for, and for the past couple of years, Amazon has not done that.

I too had a message from Amazon.co.uk that they didn't have the MP book and had to revise the delivery date to early December. I was actually going in to my account to cancel the order when it showed up as "Dispatching soon". They sent it off yesterday and it arrived this morning. So, three days later than expected BUT two weeks earlier than their panicky revised estimate. And I got a nice pre-order price of £11.

Still, like Morrus said, they always do this with the 4e books; it happened just the same with AV.

I think one of Amazon.co.uk's problems is that WotC tell them that the release date is the Tuesday of the release week, but in fact as far as retailers - and Esdevium, the importer - are concerned, WotC books come out on Wednesdays here.

Why this causes the automated system to panic each month I'm not sure!

When I pre-ordered my D&D core books almost a year in advance and they didn't deliver, I got upset. When I pre-ordered Martial powers and Draconomicon several months in advance and they didn't deliver, I chose never to do amazon again... ever.
I mean, doesn't pre-order mean that they buy an extra one for you spacifically?

UPDATE: I took smdmcl's advice and dropped H3 from the order and Martial Power shipped the next day.

If I had been smart I would have cancelled the whole order and started a new one with MP and added P1 to get the free shipping, but by the time I thought about it it had already gone into its shipping process.

Anyway, looks like H3 is the culprit, at least at Amazon.ca

That's twisted, and I don't blame you.

I've think I've been relatively lucky so far, compared to some of the horror stories I've heard.

Could delays be related to the upcoming postal strike? I've heard that there might be delays in postal service. That's if you're shipping via Canada Post.

I know the picketers are wreaking havoc on traffic in my area....and I've noticed some mail is taking a long time to get anywhere....8 business days and counting, when I can drive to the originator's location in about 4 hours.

Don't know if it's of any interest/use to Morrus or any of the rest of you, but I've just had a mail from Amazon UK saying that may Martial Power book has been dispatched this morning (Nov 25th). It was pre-ordered on Nov 4th.

UPDATE: I'm the OP, the guy originally complaining that Amazon.ca wasn't shipping my stuff. Yesterday, I received it in the mail. I'm quite happy now!

Still, bummer though for those of you still getting jerked around by Amazon.co.uk (or anywhere else).
