Alea Tools Markers - fixed!

Not sure how many people out there use the magnetic markers from Alea Tools (aleatools.com) they are great for marking status conditions and got some nice press from the WotC folks a while back (Stephen Radney-MacFarland). They just fixed the one problem they had with the magnets being a bit too strong when used in close quarters. They are discounting old stuff and have conversion kits if you want to fix your current markers. I love these things - great tool got better.

Glad to hear that they 'fixed' those... its kinda funny to play with the markers jumping around.

You may also want to check out Magna-Map, it works pretty good with the strong Alea markers. I have two of these maps in order to cover larger encounter areas.

I will have to grab some 'weaker' Alea markers, thanks for the update.

{and welcome to the boards...}

Now, do I upgrade to the new neo-magnets, or do I splurge on the heavily discounted old-timey magnets?

I can't find the conversion kits - I just find the how-to's.

It looks like they figured it out... there is a no-image item under accessories now.

Sweet, thanks!! It was way more affordable than I expected!

I ordered 2, since I think I have about 50 magnets. It totalled under $14, which is a bargain, in my book.

Yeah - it looked pretty easy to do... about a third the cost of buying new.

Awesome! I like my magna-map, but its not always feasible for me to pack it with me, so this will work much much better. We'll probably see more adoption of these now that the major downfall is fixed.

Argh, is anyone else having trouble with the checkout system on their website? I'm using Ubuntu/Opera and its complaining that the 'secure' checkout (https) isn't working... Also tried on Ubuntu/Firefox 3.0 and its dieing too (Data Transfer Interrupted)...

Edit: 30 minutes later, it seems to be working correctly!

No problem ordering them here, XP & FF. They are so great in the game (even when the baddies are stacked up 5 high!) but the sticking problem is a pain.......now I hop I don't trash them replacing the magnets LOL

I think you'll be fine. I was almost able to get one open with my fingernail during the game last night.
