If 5th Ed. came out right now, and it had everything you (personally) ever desired in an RPG would you buy it?
I ask to see how much people want to own a good game, vs. how much they hate corp. greed/money grabs.
Yeah, I would totally buy it.
4E doesn't even meet the "everything you (personally) ever desired in an RPG" caveat and I bought it.

Absolutely.
Unless I'm somehow a captive audience, such as needing gas to drive to work, I don't consider selling a product to be a "money grab". I just don't assign that much ethical negativity to the act of trying to sell me a luxury product. It's up to me decide whether the product they are selling is worth anything to me.

This. I mean, I might grumble a bit when all the good video games come out in the same month, but I don't start thinking Relic is out to get me, or anything. It just means I have to figure out what I want the most, and what can wait.
Absolutely. There's room enough in my life for 2 perfect games: Pathfinder and some unnamed complete game.

I think the underlying question is, if a company releases a game product which you bought and, six months later, releases a subsequent, "perfect" edition of the same product you bought half a year ago, would you still buy it?
Would you reward a company that had a good product that would make an unreleased product obsolete, but decided to release the inferior product first in order to get more money out of you, the consumer?
The OGL would still be a sticking point with me. I'd still rather support RPG products I'm not quite as crazy about if they're completely open than a system that is everything I've ever wanted in an RPG but is completely closed. When I look at where I'm going to spend my money, one of the questions I ask myself is whether or not I foresee myself doing something with the game professionally.
So I can't answer the poll as there isn't an option that describes my criteria.

Yup, though I would even with me somehow knowing everything in the next edition was perfect for me. I would think it be best to do a proper amount of supplements for the current one, so that it had enough support before moving onto the next, for those who that edition wasn't their perfect one.

I'm curious to see if anyone will actually reply "no", and if so, what their rationale will be.
I haven't bought any 4E materials, so for me it's not even worth a moment's doubt... I suppose if I had, then gotten disillusioned and 5E came out very soon after I'd be seriously tempted to grab a pirated copy, but in the end, I'd buy it just for the convenience of having a physical book I could flip through.
Which is why I bought C&C. Its turned into being the perfect game for me.
So the downside is I don't see anyone else doing anything better that would steal me away. If it does get done, I will buy into it.

NEVER hold to the letter written, nor allow some barracks room lawyer to force quotations from the rule book upon you, IF it goes against the obvious intent of the game. As you hew the line with respect to conformity to major systems and uniformity of play in general, also be certain the game is mastered by you and not by your players. Within the broad parameters give in the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Volumes, YOU are creator and final arbiter. By ordering things as they should be, the game as a WHOLE first, your CAMPAIGN next, and your participants thereafter, you will be playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons as it was meant to be. May you find as much pleasure in so doing as the rest of us do.

(Assuming this is the question being asked Yes/No. )
I've got what I need out of the RPGs I play. But then, that's been the case for some years now. If a game's ruleset is so obnoxious as to require a new edition, I just don't play it. Pretty simple I think.

There wasn't an option for "Maybe" or "Not Sure".
If it came out right now, after only 6 months of 4E? NO
If it came out a year or so from now, and had everything I had ever wanted? MAYBE
Because of my disillusionment with 4E, I have been very active in perfecting my own 3.5E houseruled system to my preferences. This is becoming, and probably will remain, my favorite system. It may be that I'll never go with another new edition or rules system. But, who knows?
